Yup, it is that time of year again.

What are your thoughts on Christmas music?

I can tell you, when I was in my 20's and working retail, I could not stand it. It felt like hell on Earth.

Now though, the thought of driving around town with my wife, seeing the gaudy lights on people's houses and businesses, enduring the colder weather... it brings me joy. It is cozy. I am not sure if it comes down to getting older, no longer caring about the meaningless claptrap I cared about when I was younger, or what. Does anyone else get this feeling?

Consider this. We all know radio stations are bought and paid for and everything we hear on them is played solely on the basis of making money. I would honestly rather endure 1.5 months of the same holiday tunes over and over than have to listen to any of the demographically chosen 'classics' and top 40 nonsense that is shoved down our throats ad nauseam the rest of the year. I actually consider this kind of a break.

My god, what happened to me?!

I agree completely.

I shouldn’t like it.... but damn it, it’s mid-December: time to crank up Slade.

And no being cool by pretending to only like the Pogues’ Christmas song...

Don’t get me started on Christmas carols too. Get me weeping like a baby every time.

Hate it with a passion.

1 of the only decent 1's is Driving home for christmas.

Rest is all shite.

With the bonus of a video full of cheesy Christmas scenes - why aren't there any Christmas cards like these any more? I love them.

It is cheese ball stuff. There is no denying it.

I have found the best thing to do is sing along and change the lyrics to get some laughs. Ad lib and what have you.

I don't really have any favorites. I tend to let it all wash over me. Actually, I like the Grinch one. Very descriptive imagery.

That Chris Rea track is really good!

The Chris Rea track reminded me a little of this...

Not really a Christmas track per se, but it has that holiday vibe if you let it.

Was on some appelsientje compilation cd from the 80's or whatever. Pretty much the christmas kickstarter track for me.

Most christmas music gets on my nerves.

Like anything it depends on the song and who is singing it or playing it. For me 'Christmas Time is Here' (instrumental) is the warmest, most nostalgic, most lovely christmas song there is. Not a Christmas song but my second favorite Vince Guaraldi piece is the Great Pumpkin Waltz, especially the slower longer version. 'Skating' is pretty great too.
