New Age has a bit of a bad rep for being ambient's kitschy brother. Let's change that.

I'm in love with Light In The Attic's "I Am The Center: Private Issue New Age Music In America, 1950-1990". Every track is a gem. Features Michael Stearns and Laraaji (who collaborated with Eno on Ambient 3), and a whole bunch of lesser known acts. Totally DIY, punkish in its own way. Here are some selections:

I have this collection on vinyl, it's fantastic. The following track is taken from Harps of the Ancient Temples by Gail Laughton, which is also a brilliant album. The track also featured in Bladerunner.
