Not talking about music obviously, talking about regular artists. :P As you may know, I'm very interested in animation and have a few artists I love and draw inspiration to.

I get a kick out of Jorge R. Gutierrez (known for El Tigre and The Book of Life), Chuck Jones (Looney Tunes and did my favorite Tom and Jerry era), Zach Bellissimo (storyboard artist on Cartoon Network shows such as the upcoming Victor and Valentino, also did work on Teen Titans Go and Rick and Morty, also got an upcoming project called Long Gone Gulch which I'm hyped for!), C.H. Greenblatt (Harvey Beaks and Chowder), Tara Billinger (Mickey Mouse 2013 and also co-creator of the project Long Gone Gulch like Zach) and Megan Ann Boyd (storyboard artist for various recent Nickelodeon and Warner Bros. projects). They all have really neat art styles that I love a lot!!

My favorite artist would have to be Karl Hadrika, ever since I discovered him this year. He worked on Bunnicula during season one (love that show) and also did storyboard work on SpongeBob recently (sadly he left in April but I'm happy he got to work on the show for a bit!). I've sent him an email in the past for drawing tips and he's one of the nicest cartoonists I've met! He's also made a couple projects himself such as the pilot Becky Prim and the short Roadkill Redemption (which are both fantastic!). He also does a lot of random art pieces on social media which are all fantastic and well drawn! I'm amazed to see someone in the industry which as much talent as him and hope he gets his own project greenlit one day.

So yeah, who are your favorite artists? (from all sorts of media, not music though lol)

God I suck at making topics without coming off as cringe XD

Veronika Marék has some very pleasing works. Her stuff is kind of hard to find though, I would recommend just looking up "the rabbit with the checkered ears" as she did all the design for it.

I like maps, preferably nautical maps. Most of you probably don't consider maps to be art, and maybe they aren't, but I have a few in nice frames in my home. I like nautical paintings too. Old ships and whatnot.

The other week I googled the names (together) of my three favourite artists - Rene Magritte, Edward Hopper and Francis Bacon and found out they're David Lynch's favourites too...

Don't be! I used to be a map collector myself (not nautical maps, just regular interstate maps but nautical maps sound much cooler!).

I'm kind of a pleb, I like Dali & Picasso. However, I LOOOOOOOVE Stanley Donwood. Y'know, the guy who does Radiohead's album art. I'm also a big fan of the Designer's Republic, for obvious reasons.

When it comes to directors, I can only name one I love off the top of my head: Kubrick.
If you think this is over, then you're wrong.

As in music? Rick Wakeman is an amazing composer and arranger, and not just as a performer with Yes. He played with Black Sabbath, the Beatles, Jethro Tull, Led Zepplin, the London Philharmonic , and about another thousand or so recording artists.

Carol Kay is the best bassist I have ever heard. Look her up. She even gave Gene Simmons a lesson or three.

Happy first post! I think the person who started the thread was referring mostly to visual art/ all art forms as it would be in the "This Random Sound" section of Twoism if it were purely for music. Checking out Rick Wakeman's work right now, though, as you mentioned it so thank you

You can't go wrong with Francis Bacon, as jcnporter says. Some of BoC's music would make an interesting accompaniment. The famous triptych with Gyroscope in the background, perhaps?

Jeff Buckley! I can't believe he died. He had an amazing voice and could play the hell out the guitar at the same time.

Dream Brother, Grace, Vancouver, The Sky Is A Landfill Nightmares by the Sea... are all amazing songs.

At the time 9/11 happened and i heard "The Sky Is A Lanfill" i thought he was like a prophet till i more understood how the song is based more on shit that happened before that incident.

He was an all round great musician and songwriter.

You know damn well where you'll go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope i get to go to the place jesus prepared for him and mine. Someday!
