I'm making a sad disco compilation.

You lot all think I was in Cornwall 'on holiday' last week.
I was really in high-level negotiations with Hexagon Sun regarding a BOC live show...

I'm starting to get into Xiu Xiu, mostly through various youtube playlists and Pandora. Anybody here have a suggestion for an actual LP/EP to pick up?

On my way back from holdays, a stopover in Portmeirion, a week in Wiltshire and a couple of days in Cornwall. When the weather's good, these Isles are easily as good as anywhere in the world.

I've been so distracted from this forum by job-hunting, music-making, girl-friending, and other nonsense.

So, uh....I mean, it's generally always like this stateside but for you guys in the UK...come 2015's election, you're fucked, aren't you? Or so I hear from my overseas friends who fiercely hate tories.

That's such a different political landscape, I can't wrap my head around whatever the fuck happened with UKIP in May.

Every step I take closer to getting my work visa, something happens and I fear that I will have picked a horrible time.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

^ yep, we're a mess. We're being led by an un-elected coalition, part of which is going to be absolutely slaughtered at the next election. And despite having the most viciously right-wing Tory govt in memory, the opposition is (so far) largely ineffective and despite offering a genuinely left-wing alternative (which people - by which I mean a large portion of the general public, not just dyed-in-the-wool old socialists like me - *would* go for), just a different flavour of neo-liberalism. I see another Tory-led coalition govt ahead, but with the vile UKIP as partners. If that happens I can really see those shiny new water cannons getting an outing...

Don't let our basket-case politics put you off though; we're mostly nice people. We moan about the weather a lot, but it's not really that bad, our beers and the pubs we drink them in are wonderful places and despite the stereotypes, our food is ace.

said it before, say it again. If UKIP ever gets in - coalition or not - I'm out of here with my family in tow before the jackboots start matching down The Mall.

UKIP's success is proof of two things: (1) the failure of mainstream politicians and (2) that the common man, frankly, is ignorant beyond belief.
Depressing.

It baffles me why the BBC gave them so much coverage (promotion). How about the green party? They have been doing much better than ever before, gaining many voters yet the green party have almost total media blackout.

Fishy!!

If UKIP ever get in government.. im definitely heading for the exit sign. As if most politicians aren't corruptible enough by money as it is, imagine these UKIP tossers? :x

Yes, the BBC's coverage of UKIP was highly fishy. Much as I love the BBC for many things, there has been a massive slide to the right in their political bias - partly because Nick Robinson is such a Tory himself, secondly they're shitting themselves about the licence fee and thirdly, let's not forget the BBC is as Establishment as it is possible to be. And this govt is the most tight-knit Establishment govt for decades (marriage into aristocracy, Eton-educated, Cameron is related to the queen...).

Heh, ANS the food thing is something I've never understood. Dad used to moan a lot about it a decade ago when he worked in car audio and traveled abroad to visit dealers.

Not a single city in the world I've been to has lacked a restaurant with fantastic food, and I don't understand why anyone who says "x country has awful food" can't comprehend that alike their home quality varies from place to place.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

1. Someone claims to have rips of all AFOT, OTV2 and R35TT, but they request people donate to their dad's medical bills (he's got cancer)
2. MDG has concerns because the PayPal account is unverified and everything is a bit fishy
3. Tape rips are released and MDG confirms them to just be the normal mp3s cleaned up in audio software, Aesthetics closes the topic.
4. Arguments start (in a different topic) over whether or not MDG is lying, one user gets particularly hostile and mean. Aesthetics finally closes this topic too.
If you read the topics, it'll only make you feel disappointed.

Cheers mate, thought that was the jist.. how bizarre! Hope this persons father will be okay if it is the case he is poorly. However, maybe not a wise idea to tempt the most committed and meticulous fan base in the world. I love to talk and listen BoC but sometimes I do feel less than inclined to read and join in those discussions. Glad I missed it.

Also, yes Mex.. 8)
