We'll only make OOT5 once, and since 5 is a symbolic number why not (discreetly) feature as many fives as possible? Everyone who submitted a track should draw a pentagon, however big and whatever colour, on their hand. Then take a picture of their outstretched hand ( such as pantheon's) with all FIVE fingers erect(lol). Then we mash these pictures together and can add it to the sleeve or the site.

Effectively like hollywood hand-prints, but without the hollywood bullshit ;)
Hands down on that idea!
I'm sure the chosen artist will have no problem to intergrate it in the design. It could be placed on the back of the cover (the left side when the case is open).

When I looked at the hand picture the other day I also thought about contributing a design with a hand in it. But since I'm not a designer I wanted to put the idea up in this topic. But your idea with the hands is awesome. It would go with all previous artwork contributions and it totally expresses what OoT stands for. Not sure about the pentagon though, but the community will decide.

I'm game!

If we are all taking photos of our hands, there will be a huge difference in the backgrounds between all the photos. Perhaps they will all look a little more like a collection if we use the sky as the background or something, its something that is universally similar for us all. Or would having vastly different backgrounds be better?... just thinking here.

I like the sky idea, but skies tend to differ in colour/cloud mass etc.

Maybe its cool if we all used a loud colour as a background, we can chromakey that shit.

Or we could just super impose all the hands on top of eachother so you get one blurry hand with a really dark pentagon and a background that makes you go "wow colors". the quality of the photo doesn't matter then either.

No rules for backgrounds.

Just take a pic of your hand where ever you see fit. It's more of an opportunity to express the individualism within the group of contributors than get everyone to do the same thing.
One Daw to rule them all,One Daw to find them,
One Daw to bring them all,and in the darkness bind them. x Reaper x

Also, I agree the pentagon on the hands may be a bit too much. Just hands =]

My vote goes to where ever one sees fit. A tiny bit of personal influence(background) will look great. Even more when this is integrated in the design style.

All for the hand photos idea!

It can end up being a great collage. It will be best though if the number of photos has at least 2 proper divisors, so that it can fill up a grid nicely. :) I.e. 16 will make a great 4x4 grid, 30 can make a good 5x6 grid, etc.

A bit of colour matching across the photos afterwards, and it can turn out very stylish.

And I got a suggestion: how about everyone holds something in his hand? Something small, something that matters to you somehow, or something strange that will make everyone else go "WTF!?" (in a good way). :)

What do you think?

Personally not fond of that because a stretched hand represents a 5.

Ah, right, I forgot we were going for the 5 thing. :)

Well, holding things can wait till next year then.

Beware of a black background, it'll end up looking like System of a Down or some others, Just Kidding

With regards to website I would be happy to program but again I really am not a designer. Would be perfectly happy to team with a designer - if someone makes a layout in Photoshop or shit, even if they hand draw it I can digitally colour it and turn it into html/CSS quite quickly!
I also have a VPS and would be 100% happy to donate as much bandwidth as you like to hosting the compilation.

Thanks Mark, I might want to use some of your bandwidth for the flac version.

I'll use my facebook and twitter account to throw some updates every once in a while to keep those interested, in the loop.
