"Braindance" my ass! I actually got up from my chair and danced to this album. The last time I did that was in... well, actually, I've never done that.

Then three tracks later I got too tired, so I went back to play Borderlands 2...

HI! :D Picked up my pre order before work and and still haven't listened to it yet. Just got home with my Japanese Ed. of >SYRO. Not only did I get a bonus track and different cover... I got this:

Image

It's a shopping bag. Aphex. Still wrapped.

Image

An A4 document holder, double sided.

Image

The other side!

Image

An A2 poster! Still sealed... ( sorry guys.)

Image

Another WARP magnet for me! I'm starting to build a collection now.

Image

The cover in Japan. I have no idea what the domestic cover looks like yet.

Image

The back side. I unfolded this earlier and his grocery list goes on forever!

I'm going to listen to the album for the first time in about 30 minutes.

I should mention, inside the CD case is that lovely diagram of what instruments he used for which tracks, not to mention a a complete biography of RDJ. It's a shame it's all in Japanese... [/img]

I've just had to manually input all the track names into iTunes because there is no information on the Japanese release. Now... I will listen. But ciggie first!

If anybody is wondering what the birds are in the background of the piano track Aisatsana. The track starts with Blackbirds singing, the chip chip calls are house sparrows. There's song thrushes also in the mix. The loudest very melodic call is from the little wren.

Beautiful track. 8)

In the circled list of equipment used he included "Wildlife". Wonder if it was recorded in Scotland.

P.S I ordered the Japanese release through amazon japan.

So is the Syro CD in digipak? I haven't received mine yet. Drukqs wasn't... I remember reading RDJ say he wanted it to be but Warp couldn't swing it so they compromised.

I got the vinyl and it feels nice and heavy.

Why on earth would somebody prefer digipak to jewel case?

But we pay roughly double or more than what the west does for any media.

What's everybody's favorite track? each one could be a contender and it feels like it could change from day to day considering the wealth of goods on offer. Outstanding record!

That doesn't count for The Netherlands. The vinyl is 21.59 EUR in Japan and 28.99 EUR @ Bleep.

If I had to choose one probably produk 29 [101]. The first half is really groovy as fuck man! That synth and those strange vocals. The second half sounds a bit sinister. So much stuff in one track, just lovely! :D

But as you said there are so many contenders. Listened to it 6 times now and it's getting better with every listen. It's everything I could have wished for in a new Aphex album. It's not something revolutionary new, but damn is it amazing... The production as a whole, hard to put into words!

Also really in love with the first one actually, minipops 67 [1202][source field mix]. What an opener! Really like those vocals too.

If I had to choose a track that I dislike the most it would definitely be 180db_ [130]. It doesn't really go anywhere and it sounds a bit "cheaper" than the other tracks. It's not really bad or anything, just less good
