So, this past weekend I took my nephew to an airshow. I'd never been, never thought I would go to one actually. Turned out to be pretty cool, some seriously impressive stunt flying and such. Lots of random booths and exhibits from aerospace manufacturers and secret/experimental government aircraft behemoths. But the coolest thing for me was an appearance by Colonel Joe Kittinger. He's the gent that jumped from a balloon from 102,800 feet and reached speeds over 600 mph on the way down. That guy.
But we here know him as the man from the "Dayvan Cowboy" video. So when the chance came to approach him, I had to ask about BOC etc. Turns out he has indeed seen the video, thoroughly enjoyed it, and owns several BOC albums! I thought that was pretty cool, especially for an 81 year old. He asked me lots of questions about them, which I did my best to answer. Super nice guy, loads of crazy stories. Spent quite awhile talking to him and his wife.
Anyway, I bought his autobiography - and had him sign it to Mike & Marcus. He loved the idea, and made me promise I would do my best to get it to them. He even gave me another copy to keep for myself.
So if anyone has solid mailing info (via WARP? Hexagon Sun PO Box still active?), let me know here or via PM.
