All right, what do you know about this Road trailer. It was the worst trailer. The Road is seriously one of those change-your-whole-outlook kind of books. I was sad when they made it look like it was the Day After Tomorrow 2.

I'm halfway through The Crossing right now, which is fantastic. It hasn't gripped me quite like All The Pretty Horses, but it's still right up there. Makes me want to take a road trip to West Texas in a bad way.
Also, Texas State University in San Marcos just opened the Cormac McCarthy archives, which entails 90+ boxes of Cormac's notes, old drafts, research, correspondence, etc for every novel and unfinished work he's ever done. Excellent review that. I know better than to even bother watching trailers these days. Been put off too many great films due to trashy trailers over the years. A conventional trailer for The Road was never going to work, although adding stuff to explain it all (which presumably isn't in the movie at all) is just reprehensible.
On the strength of The Proposition, I'd say that Hillcoat is a fine choice for director, as is Viggo Mortensen for the main role. Hopefully Weinstien's influence stretches no further than the trailer.
