Are the Sandison brothers keen birders?

Thu Jul 18, 2013 10:19 pm

I think it's quite clear BOC appreciate all things to do with Nature. Track titles such as "Wildlife Analysis" and "An Eagle In Your Mind" and "Dawn Chorus" which brings me on to my next point.

I think it's a fair bet they are actually keen birders like myself. Using bird song in many of their tracks like these from the top of my head.

Pete Standing Alone - Willow Warbler
In The Annexe - Blackbird
The Smallest Wierdest Number - Curlew
Happy Cycling - Herring Gull
Oscar See Through Red Eye, In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country- Robin
Rue The Whirl - Sparrows

And a sparrowhawk (a bird I regularly see and admire) on the cover of In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country.

I'm starting to think maybe a Scottish bird reserve may be good places to bump into Marcus and Mike.

That said, I have nothing of any value to add here.

What about Rue the Whirl? If you really are right in what you say, this is the best piece of info I have read in a long time, no matter how useless. :) (I mean the birds and the tracks - them being birders sounds like a long shot.)

Had to check Wikipedia for this. Seriously, what on earth.

Gannets are seabirds comprising the genus Morus, in the family Sulidae, closely related to boobies.

A "booby":

while its a "warbird" ... Corsair is one of my favorite BOC tracks. i always stop here at the top of Rocky Ridge Trail and put it on while watching the hawks and vultures circle way down below me. its perfect birding music. i love to watch them soar and circle in thermals and updrafts - thats the entire video in my mind for that song.

Sounds like grounds for a great fan video. Go for it, please. :P

funny you say that ... i have been lugging my rig up there for a couple of months now just for this very thing! :) i was trying to hold back in my last post (hate to make promises until its in the bag ya know?) but since you mention it ... i'm hoping to get that shot before too long. whats crazy is for 10 years i have been running that trail w/o my camera. as soon as i drag my kit up there its like they all say "hide, he has the camera."

Music Has The Right To Chiffchaffs is a classic .

Now that the mating display is over and we have jointly exercised our ornithological rights we would like to leave you with one very important thought
Sometime in the future, you may have the opportunity to serve as a jack snipe in a censorship case or a so-called obscenity case, it would be wise to remember that the same people who'd stop you from twitching boobies of Canada, may be back next year to complain about a bat hawk, or even a tepui parrotlet
If you could be told of what you can twitch or read
Then it follows that you can be told what to squawk or think
Defend your ornithologically protected rights
No one else will do it for you, quack!
