If so, before today you would have seen one Boards of Canada album released in your lifetime.

I'm old enough that all BoC releases have been within my lifetime but sadly I didn't discover them until 2012 so I've only been around for 2 new album cycles. I really wish I'd discovered them sooner.

Me too, although I discovered them just as TCH dropped. Old crew represent!

Sh!t. I own clothes that are older than every BoC release. First heard them in the early naughties but didn't delve into them till about 2008. Health issues rendered me housebound for a while and ambient music was a large part of my therapy (always has been my zen zone). TH was the first release I anticipated & it is still probably my favourite album overall. Controversial I know.

That's awesome, I love that BoC helped you through that tough time in your life!
I love TH a lot as well. I had previously heard and downloaded TCH back around 2009, but to be honest it didn't really stick with me that much and I sort of forgot about them, lol.
Then, a few months after the Tomorrow's Harvest release I did a deep dive into all of the YouTube content, including the Lake Dolores listening party.
That was it - I fell in love after that and bought all of their albums after 2013.

Everyone is so young! I discovered them thanks to this CD that came mounted on the cover of the NME in 1999:

I was only a month old when MHtRtC came out. Wild that I only really only started listening to them in high school.
Going off of the album release dates:
MHtRtC - 1 month
Geogaddi - 3 years
Campfire - 7 years
Tomorrow's - 15 years
Inferno - 28 years

At the Sonic Boom listening party last night (in Toronto, Canada) most of the audience was under 30 years in age! I saw lots and lots of Gen Z.
Makes me feel more optimistic about the next generation of music nerds.

Shortly after MHTRTC for me. Must've heard them on Peel before that. 28 years ago. Jeez

I am as old as Play by Numbers and Hooper Bay are supposed to be, so no.

Ten years older. I know younger BoC fans but not the kind to post on an internet forum. Time's a-changing, great music remains.

I was 3 when Catalog 3 was released, 12 when Boc Maxima was released, and 14 when Music has the Right to Children was released.
