Turquoise Hexagon Sun midi, by me

Thu Dec 20, 2007 4:13 am

I do a lot of electronic music, primarily using Reason, but this is my first time finishing a track entirely using standard midi instruments. I did a bunch of layering to get the sounds I wanted for certain instruments, and I would have done more but the program I was using (Easy Beat) limited me to 16 tracks.

I made it to accompany a Doom 2 deathmatch map I was working on, to which I gave the same name.

(No, there's no turquoise in it. There's none in the Doom palette. Sue me. :p )

They used to have somewhat of a video game on their website. It was pointless and artistic.

I saw that. It was okay except it repeated the same thing after a while.

Well if there was a Boards video game, then I have a hunch that Mike and Marcus would start the adventure in front of a bonfire. That would be their homebase to replenish themselves whenever they got low on life. LOL.

I think it would be something like Uru, and you have to take psychedelics and travel to distant dimensions and retreive the lost tapes

I'm all for it

Yeah. The classic Doom community would have died off a long time ago if John Carmack hadn't released the source code back in...uh, I think it was around 1997. That allowed people to expand on it, fix bugs, add new features, get rid of most of its limitations, and do all sorts of fun stuff that they couldn't do originally, and it's kept quite a few people interested still :)

METAL4_1? No such texture. :P

You're probably thinking of the flat, CEIL5_2, but that's actually a custom texture on the ceiling there, that matches with the METAL wall texture, only without rivets.

heh

I was referring to the wall texture. But, I also assumed you were using q1 mips, where it's labeled METAL4_1 (might be slightly off, been 10 years or so.)

The sparkling in software mode on that texture sold the sandstone feel for the runic episode in q1. Then Glide came along and changed everything...
