I ask this in order to trigger a discussion, not to piss anyone off or target anyone.

Why do so many people feel BOC owe them something? People comment on how there's been no news and no releases and all this stuff but should BOC have to keep us updated?

I think it's the result of a mindset that some people have regarding bands they personally like a great deal. It seems like they believe that a band and its audience are necessarily involved in a two-way relationship of a certain type, that exists whether the band or the audience acknowledge it or not.

I personally don't feel like BoC owe me or their other fans anything - no news, no new album, no studio update. If they want to disappear completely, and let's remember who these guys are, please, they certainly can and will. They clearly have an amicable attitude towards their fans, despite having been given many reasons not to as their stuff got leaked and released, but I don't think they make music for the fans ultimately, ultimately I would guess they make it for its own sake and for the sake of exercising their own artistic livelihoods. And I would guess that BoC don't share the notion that some of their more energetic fans have, that their music is a community good so amazing and so important that not to proliferate it year after year is to do their fans a disservice or insult them. From what little I know of their attitudes from reading interviews, my guess is they would be more like, "It's art, it's not irreplaceable, make your own, it's fun"

it'd be cool if they put out something or made an appearance, only because they have me curious though - i love their music, i can listen to it all over and over again and still love it, i don't expect them to do anything for anyone but themselves.

Although, a new album would be prime, and you know we would all shit bricks when and if this happens =)

I guess what i mean is, many people hope for things, and nothing is wrong with that - its when you expect something that makes it entirely different.

A nonsense? Really? On the contrary, it seems like a perfectly good question/thread, judging by the amount of discussion on this site about the lack of BOC news. I think it's a reasonable question and it seems to have been raised pretty eloquently and respectfully.

Errr...no. You must have noticed the whining about the lack of news surely from certain parties, looks like I'm not alone in that view either.

They don't owe us a thing. They don't owe fans updates, live shows, anything like that.

i just think it'd be nice now and again. Not compulsory, just nice. What's the matter BoC? you don't call, you don't write... starting to think this relationship is all one-way traffic
