Just keep in mind that we are in contact with mdg for a couple of years now. To verify this contact mdg and BoC pulled this great stunt to include twoism.org in their superb TH marketing campaign. I assume, you being a BoC fan for 10+ years now, know about this?

Once Doors_Of_Perception sent me the tapes a few months ago I contacted mdg right away. With only the knowledge of the way how the tapes got there and the cover handwriting, mdg debunked it right away. He didn't even needed to hear the audio.

Now let's fast forward to the moment Doors_Of_Perception made a topic and combined it with asking money. Fredd-E contacted mdg about the issue and to be 100% sure the tapes got analyzed.

the band themselves and a couple of well-respected audio tech friends have all shared this stuff this morning and all came to exactly the same conclusion very quickly, they're entirely the same mp3s.

Believe what you want but you won't get more clarity than what already has been said.

MDG is, as I said, the closest thing to BoC's voice we have. It's better and easier to just accept what he says as truth for the time being. Put yourself in his/their position. if its from a legit source or not. It is not their work to sell, perhaps create something yourself, or do something in return

There are other ways to raise funds to support people in need but not this way.

Now, on the other hand, I personally have no problem with this person uploading their versions of the audio for others to check, its out there in all sorts of quality but its not theirs to charge people money for, it has never ever been done like that on here.

i guess i don't "get" it since i thought he second half of your first sentence is what this forum is all about. fans try to interpret what they are hearing, where its coming from, and what might be next. i was trying to lighten things up and used the words "hope," "might," etc.

been listening to BOC since '98 and i have never once complained about a lack of music. i did also say "no matter how long the wait." i'm going to go ahead and call that patience. i remain optimistic because they owe me nothing ... anything new at this point is a gift.

absolutely - had this same discussion in my head today. not only are they in the enviable position of making a living off doing what they love, but having family, kids, mortgages, and college savings, take priority over running a tab at the pub. while it is art there is still a business element and it would be great if they had this chat: "seems the fans really want these oldies, why not put the kids through college?" yeah?

I think because they reissued Twoism in 2002 and never reissued anything else pre-MHTRTC that I'd expect this to be the case. They definitely had the chance to, but never really took it. I'd take that in itself to be enough.

All this is just more and more steps away from BoC respecting their fanbase and even considering "yeah, we'll release a cleaned up version for those people" because this sort of thing demonstrates that we don't have our shit together collectively if "untitled" is really a Boards of Canada fan. it's my choice how i waste my energy, especially as long as i want to make you use your head more instead of less. i'm also a musician, i also released music, i also made mistakes and i am also thankful that boards of canada gifted us with their music. frankly, they didn't "have to" release ANY of their albums - don't you agree? but they did. the only way "we" can repay them (and this is in no way "necessary") is by using our heads, especially before posting on a public forum. don't you agree?

correct, this account was registered with the sole intention of discussing the "new" rips - but contrary to your extremely "logical" line of thought my main interest is to get hold of some unprocessed rips in order to make a professional version (only transparent noise reduction, normalization and dithering) of it. as it is, the 192kbps rip is higher quality as i can play it on a professional sound system without distorting or other issues.

unfortunately, while such a release would take d_o_p five minutes, he/she doesn't want to help me (or anybody else)... so the point is moot.
