Wow, this is an embarrassing thread. I agree with kid and not with the above from present at all.

Someone mentions M83 earlier? Ha, crazy. My music is a million times closer to BoC than most of the artists mentioned and I feel that I am nowhere near them (well, maybe apart from my leak track haha but then that was pretty laughable to some of you, which is all good with me) I, am millions of people love and make electronic music and like to think that they are themselves, it's pretty rude for random people who adore one band in particular to call such and such an artist a BoC clone or copycat.

NO NO FUCK NO :?

Some of these comparisons are loose, a few of Loess' tracks sound BOC'ish Ie Greensland.. But the similarities stop there.

I think how much they are inspired by BoC comes through quite a bit in their music. It's not as blatant as some shit like Tycho but it's certainly there in more tracks than Greensland. But i guess this is about 'CLONES'.

Loess definitely fit in their own style but do sport 'some' 'BOC'ish' tracks, but to say that they are clones is definitely wrong, as you seem to agree :D Loess are really awesome though. Picking a favourite track is very difficult :D :D

i predict a new crossover trend shortly to encompass low end sub dubby steppy frequencies primed
with carpenters choice cuts.

the desperation continues... must try harder... i want to get signed with Warp...

oh if we can fit it in, we'll buy a 6 string fender VI bass and add a few high notes

why is dubstep even coming up re: this stuff?
its not even close. and if its cuz of bass....theres lots of bass man. i guess dubstep should referenced as boom box music then. dj magic mike being the godfather. weird topics.

its just music.

I think "Clones" might be a bit of a harsh word. I would say that BoC may have inadvertently started a sub genre of sorts, which I think is great. I have my own little name for it that I call "Nostalgica". And BoC would be to Nostalgica, as say, Nirvana would be to Grunge. Maybe that's corny but I don't give a shit. I find that there are all different artists who strike these certain similar tones and yet have their own vibe and use other genre elements while still maintaining enough of a nostalgic ambient sound. Many of the artist that create music on this forum would obviously be in this genre as well. Some have more trip-hop elements (like my own stuff), some are more glitchy, some have an 80's vibe, some a 70's vibe etc.... But I feel they also have a lot of common ground. Of course, this is just how I personally lay it out in my head and compartmentalize the music I listen to.

I think all the diversity is very cool, and we should all stick together and support each other. Movements are born in this way. Twoism and WATMM are like the head quarters. All of this petty Bloods Vs. Crips bullshit needs to fly. The two forums just have 2 different styles of communication. One is a bit more sarcastic and one is a bit more laid back, but both are full of intelligent people that appreciate the same types of music. Lots of member cross forums anyway. It's all about the music.

Ps. Has anyone mentioned Airliner, Milieu or The Bear and the Sea yet????
