This isn't too specific to this track but I think there could be some Russian on this album, considering the themes. If there is anything in a foreign tongue that is...

Just being playing with letters and numbers on the basis that this track is an anagram.

P A L A C E - P O S Y
1 2 3 4 5 6 - 7 8 9 0

A P O - C A L Y P S E
2 1 8 - 5 4 3 0 7 9 6
ἀ π ό - κ α λ ύ π τ ω

There is definitely something hidden here, whether it be a code or a message to reorder the parts of the track

From wikipedia - "An apocalypse (Ancient Greek: ἀποκάλυψις apocálypsis, from ἀπό and καλύπτω meaning 'un-covering'), translated literally from Greek, is a disclosure of knowledge, i.e., a lifting of the veil or revelation, although this sense did not enter English until the 14th century.[1] In religious contexts it is usually a disclosure of something hidden.

This is some lyrics that I've managed to glean from slowing down the section starting 2:59, not much but it's a start…

"We are dancing, keeping it real" "…eleven…"

I went to the anagram generator and the first result for apocalypse is Palace Posy. Would it be that easy/obvious? I think there is either much more, or they are just having some fun with us.

I looked at the anagram generator and I think it's just the most appealing sounding of the anagrams. It has a nice ring of it's own and the rest seem too much like "that's gotta be an anagram". I can't believe no one caught it until a few days ago, even though I kept wondering "wtf is a palace posy?"

I think that's the easy part, given the theme. The hard part is the next step, finding out how to use that info, the boys said it's their most cryptic album, so I am going full Talmudic scholar on it!

I don't think this is an intended link but, earlier I was reminded of the rhyme "Ring a Ring O' Roses"!

Ring-a-ring o' roses,
A pocket full of posies,
A-tishoo! A-tishoo!
We all fall down

All fall down; collapse...

Like I say, I'm a bit doubtful about it actually being a reference to this old rhyme, but nevertheless an interesting connection.

In the U.S. we say "ashes, ashes we all fall down" fwiw. Yeah it's hard to think of another time anyone uses the word "posy", it's pretty outdated.

i would say this is very important. right in line with the owl of wisdom and the "only flies at dusk". also the jacquard sentiments of degrowth as a means by which to curb further damage to the environment & civilization...

if the boys are being more nihilistic, it would seem as though they're telling us it's too late, and the human race may only truly understand the damage they've done after the fall.

Edit: I also find it ironic that of the two Jacquards that could potentially be referenced, one created a machine of efficiency and mass production (although notably faulty) and the other warned against such things.

so the little plucked string noise only plays 4 notes (and the highest note, only once per phrase)
I thought some information might be encoded in that but if there is I can't work it out (tertiary represents 26 letters nicely, so thats a shame) :P

Does the main hook remind anyone of a slowed down Sequoia?

Yes. Exactly.
Saw a blind man walking down the street
Greets every person he chanced to meet
Saw a cop write a ticket to a man over fifty
Fell over laughing screaming he was a hippie
Ran into a granny had a smile on her face
Broke a trophy she just won in a race

Don't worry about the future
Forget about the past
Whether it's good or bad
It's a gas

Sequoia was the first thing I thought the first time I heard it. I listen to this song on all my breaks at work and it gets me so hyped up. It works even better than coffee.
