As an album, TH is damn near flawless. However, New Seeds is definitely the worst song they've ever recorded, imho of course.

A zombie apocalypse like in "The Walking Dead" is a collapse of society, right? There are still some people alive in "The Walking Dead"

So IT IS about an apocalypse to you...

No. The biblical definition of apocalypse is a revelation from God, regardless of the content of the revelation.

I wouldn't know. I've never watched the Walking Dead. I'm not into zombie movies or whatever.

Yes. An apocalypse. A revelation. You are the one who said it was anything but apocalyptic, with emphasis on the end of the world usage of the word. I disagreed with you. Now I think you're being deliberately obtuse.

Listen. Let me be the first to offer an olive branch. We don't need to continue derailing this thread with grammar Nazism. Let's just leave it alone.

Weird, that's one of my faves on the new album. The melody on the keys at the end...eargasmic.
Not that I'm judging, we all have our opinions but may I ask why you don't like it?

It sounds way too cheesy and uplifting some how.Their best stuff is generally the stuff that only they can do, where as this sounds like them trying to sound like a thousand unimaginative musicians before them. The ending melody is pretty, but nowhere near pretty enough to make it worth waiting for. Obvious emotion tugs put it firmly in lame category. It sounds like an homage to something, but it doesn't sound like them.

The whole album kind of falls into this category. Their fans are beating them at their own game at this point.

The worst stuff they made was on the Random 35 Tracks Tape, but I'm not sure if it's fair to judge that really as it all just seems to be a jumble of demos and half-brained ideas. After that, I'd say A Few Old Tunes, of all the fully-realised releases they've made, is the most lacking in quality. It really pales in comparison to Old Tunes Vol. 2, the ambient tracks on there aren't all that interesting, and the whole thing seems a bit too jerky to really enjoy as a full thing.
In terms of their official catalogue, I have to say I never was all that keen on Trans Canada Highway. The Dayvan Cowboy remix is fantastic, but of those tracks, the only one I seem to enjoy is (not including Dayvan Cowboy) Left Side Drive.
Oh, and the Invocation video is a bit crappy, though they didn't make that, I suppose.

i'm really not a fan of davie addison mostly because to me it sounds like that part from the police - every breath you take and i cannot stand that song

New Seeds is absolutely beautiful and that statement is literally the inverse of my opinions about TH.

Agreed, New Seeds is definitely a standout track.

and there's a voice, speaking "I like you", literally, going along with the melody near and untill the end, just saying...
very difficult to catch, but it is!

edit: new seeds ofc

That's an unusual, but... oddly understandable sentiment.

But I don't hear the similarity, though. Davie Addison's melody reminds me a lot more of the opening from Bach's Cello Suite no. 1. It's a really famous piece (Steve Hackett quotes it on Horizons), so it might have been an inspiration. Maybe.

Zoetrope or Music for Pylons, I guess. I don't skip a lot of tracks, but I skip those.
