Well of course that would be awesome, however I for one do not have a drum room with a high end kit set up. I think we might all love that.

TrippyTrinity wrote:It sounds like a whole lot of trouble to sample and resample when you can just do a live take like they did with Dawn Chorus.

Hmm, sampling is what I like to do. It gives you 100% control over it. You can do some really neat stuff. Plus, I am pretty sure BoC samples just about everything, if not everything.

TrippyTrinity wrote:I'm a stickler for some real drums other wise the music comes off too robotioc with everyone running to the drum samples and drum machines set to high BPM's.

Real drums always have a better sound dry, but when you're sampling and effecting that much, you can actually get some very good results a lot of the time. It won't replace it, by any means but it all depends on what sound you're going for. And, the high BPM, that's just the programmer, I am with you in the slower downtempo stuff.

On Dawn Chorus they did one take with the drums on an acoustic set, so not everything is sampled, but I get your point. :)

Oh, I just tried the link and it lags alot, but it's not the song, you just have to wait along time for it to load, then it sounds good. :)

How about Melissa Juice?
And is anyone interested in collaborating to make full song covers?

Try turning up the bit rate, 128kbs is kind of normal but sounds ugly. 192kbs is better and is getting almost un-noticable. 320kbs is realy un noticable.

If your managing to distort an MP3 of high bitrate then your mix must have some strange frequencies in it. Check your levels in the mix and normalise if necisary. Check your dont have many loud frequencies near 22khz, if so then try and slope them out with an eq. Same goes for frequencies below about 20hz, try and take them out. A general rule of mixing is that a spectrum should show your mix gently sloping down from 20hz - 22khz.

Check these things then try make the MP3 again.

That was'nt bad at all. What keyboard did you make this with?

Yes, a lot of lag while listening to the clip. LOL :)

A Casio CTK-573, edited heavily with Audacity. I've had a lot of practice.

Oh, I also figured out that if you wait about 10 minutes or so, it works fine without lagging. Though I personaly think it's not worth the wait. :?

what's the point of this lets-imitate-boc-note-by-note? some of you obviously got the skills to create. seems like a waste to me.

:?:

It's fun to play covers, it's fun to learn how. But some people don't have as good of a musical ear, so posting covers and tutorials helps those without perfect pitch bust out a tune on their keyboard in their bedroom. 8)

1. Learning is never a waste.

2. I think most of us did it for fun and practice; mixes, sound creation etc etc etc,

3. And what's the big deal? If you don't like them then simply don't come to the thread. Problem solved!

Looks like I got an early start on it. I have all the synths figured out and layed down, I just need to work on the percussion now, and effecting, mixing. :-) I'll do that later tonight.

Yea I was happy with TrippyTrinity's reply also. I was just curious about the whole thing... felt a bit like it was some kind of internal competition of who can imitate BoC most accurate.
