That same font was used for the "Trans Canada Highway" cover.

Yeah, the TCH font is under the nuclear family image, the label on the shirts neck is the MHTRTC font.

I might've mentioned this already, but I'm actually encouraged by the radio silence and the lack of "liked" comments. Makes me feel it was actually them running the Insta account.

I do wonder if there is a hold up or not. Like, are they waiting for samples to clear? Or did they scratch an album because they weren't happy?

I'm also very encouraged by the radio silence. Naturally as a fan, i can't wait to be shunned for another 10 years.

Stop being needy. Take a page from the brothers' book, who distance themselves from civilization and technology to actually live meaningful lives. Do that yourself, or whatever variation constitutes meaningful to you and allow them to do that. The album comes when it comes.

Just saying, y'all are saying "they don't care about the fans". I think they do and that's what they'd want for you because it makes for a much richer life experience than one of chronic waiting and frustration.

Don't fret. With regards to TH we had 17 confirmations + a long period of silence before release.

Some milestones:
  • 2007-07-23 | First confirmation of TH: "I can confirm that there is a new major release by the band coming up. The announcement will appear first on the official website nearer the time." (5 years, 10 months before its release)
  • 2011-07-18 | Final confirmation of TH: "There's a good chance the previous albums will see a vinyl reissue upon the release of the next album - this is definitely something the band have been talking about." (1 year, 10 months before its release)
  • 2013-04-29 | TH album announcement
  • 2013-06-10 | TH album release
Between the final confirmation of 2011 and the release in 2013 there was almost 2 years of silence.

In short, who's to say that this current silence isn't the same as it was in the run-up to Tomorrow's Harvest? We're not yet approaching two years of silence since the last (subtle) confirmations.

As far as I'm concerned, we are now exactly one year further: last year on 8 March, the first interesting likes appeared on the official Boards of Canada Instagram account. Ultimately, there were 38 likes on specifically selected comments from fans that were solely about the demand for new music.
Between 8 March and 17 May, they did not like any other type of comment.

A month later, a new batch of merchandise followed. Not insignificant. :!:

In short, I don't think we should lose all hope.

Seefeel's selftitled album came out in 2011 after a very long hiatus. They have just announced their first new full length album after the selftitled album. Boards of Canada's Tomorrow's Harvest came out in 2013. So surely, 2028 is the year BoC is dropping the new album.

There is absolutely no fault in this logic.

B!tch please!
Coroner: Grin - Release year 1993
Coroner: Dissonnance Theory - Release year 2025

I know about waiting, however about Coroner, they actually toured for a few years before the release of Dissonnance Theory, showing they were alive.

As far as we know, BOC might just be operated by a third party by now after selling their catalogue for a private, undisclosed amount and are now enjoying life as Airstreamers in the New Zealand outback.

Have we had anything similar to the "black box" situation for this potential new album?

Sometimes I wonder if I've been on this forum for too long

Moving the web hosting bits of the cosecha website is pretty solidly parallel I think. Both are fairly open to interpretation changes to a website we weren't supposed to be watching in that kind of detail, were subtle enough most people would never have noticed, vague enough that they could have plausibly meant anything or nothing, and it's only after the release of new music that we can really say with any real conviction "ok that was a sign something was going on" and even then could equally validly be called a coincidence.

Yeah. I wonder if the brothers figured out their PHP setup yet? Laravel the framework they were running is a pretty sick framework, though it is an odd choice to make a website with it in this day and age unless you are using a repo which so happens to be made in it already . Why not something more modern written in JS/Typescript? Only old people code PHP... That was weird to me. I remember taking a deeper look into the analytics software which was revealed to be running on the server, and I suspect the entire time they were actually tracking who went to that site for promotional reasons dating way back to the original release of Tomorrows Harvest. I do the same on my own site through a different software suite, its what you would usually do if you don't want to use Google Analytics. So what I'm saying is I'm convinced this is most likely a Warp label thing, as I can't see the brothers interested in a bunch of "Google Analytics". The label might be putting the feelers out maybe? A little radio blip to see who's actually still listening. One must assume the album is ready then, and they are just looking for the right time to release. But that is pure ravenous speculation on my part.

Oh interesting, I was kind of looking at that the other way. I'm of a similar age to BoC and all my stuff for years was PHP, and a friend of mine is constantly trying to get me to pivot to Laravel as a "keep your old skills without having to learn loads of new ones and feel like you've mitigated a bunch of security threat" thing. (There's a reason none of my old things are still online!)

I can totally see that kind of path being appealing to someone who still wants to play now and then but not really have to bother about keeping current and making it your day job. When I saw the Laravel thing mentioned, my brain kind of went "oh that tracks".

Which isn't to say I think the websites are done by BoC themselves but then it wouldn't completely surprise me either way either

Fredd-E has already posted this on bocpages but...

https://x.com/WarpRecords/status/203500 ... eOWHmd4UoA

This feels very significant to me, the ending song spelling out "WARC" randomly, this post (especially the fact that BoC is the first band tagged)

Can't help but be very very cautiously optimistic now, let's begin speculating and bickering about if this means anything or not I say!
