well they signed to warp 15 years ago so it would be weird if they hadn't changed since then . . .

This song reminds me a lot of the sound of Legowelt's sideproject The Psychic Stewardess ‎– Spiritual Foundation.

Seriously "Cinematic" is the best word for this. It's flawless, it makes me feel like I'm in the middle of a forest on a VHS fantasy film from the 70s hiding from a demon of spiders.

For those who don't know, I'd like to give Boreal Network a little push. Did a feature on her last record back in 2011 (and I also put together a sampler for the new one, whenever that may come out). Click here for the article and here for her website.

:)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that noticed!

I absolutely love this one. This could be the soundtrack to some 70's movie.

I'm sorry, but this track goes absolutely nowhere! So far, all the tracks I've heard seem like weak, unfinished efforts. "Cold Earth" is the only one that has seemed worth listening to a second time. And the last track is from the "Transmission" trailer? Wow, that's so very weak.

I love all the old Boards material. But I was expecting to be blown away with this new record after all these years of waiting and I'm just not feeling it. This is an utter disappointment.

To me, "The Campfire Headphase" is their masterpiece. And may remain so forever

How about waiting til you hear it before rubbishing it as a 'massive disappointment'?
Lol.

Well, I've heard 6 tracks now. That is more than enough to gauge how well-crafted the album is. I'm sure that if someone else had done these tracks and labeled them as BoC there would have have been a lot of "bad fake" comments, or "this is interesting, but definitely not BoC."

EDIT / My bad, I was talking about Jacquard, not White Cyclosa.

The record hasn't been released yet - only 1 track has been put out in proper quality. It seems odd that you would judge an album (which like all BoC stuff is probably meant to be enjoyed all together rather than as individual tracks) based on a few vids recorded by fans on crappy equipment.

They also don't owe you anything; there's nothing 'weak' about one of the tracks being the transmission tune.

I'd partly agree, if some of these were leaked as badly as mine (hehe) they would be rubbished quite easily as they are more removed from a typical BoC sound than some of the fakes, they only become epic when confirmed to actually be BoC to a lot of fans. Anything else is just shit to a lot of people. I do however disagree with the quality. I love the sound of these new tracks and that's from an unbiased view of whether they are BoC or fakes. And of course, they are very BoC even though their sound has progressed.
Exciting (sick) times and glad to be a part of it.

As always, I just think the tracks need several listens with proper quality sound. It's been the case for all of their albums.

Absolutely. It's impossible to get a full opinion from that stream.

RFTD was good when I listened to Zane's show but was not bowled over. many listens and it creeps up on you and hugs your back like the ghost of your dead parent. (sorry if you still have parents hehe)

And that's why I totally refuse to listen to those recordings. But Warp should release the entire album very soon, I'm getting antsy...

Or have lost one in the past couple of days.

This is a great forum, with some great intelligent musos, so I don't understand some of the comments about it doesnt sound like BoC etc, I have refrained from listening to any low quality tracks, RFTD is great and gets better with every listen like the majority of BoC tracks, there are tracks on all the albums I maybe didnt pay much attention to at the start and thought they are okay that are now my favourites, that is the beauty of BoC, its not just some quick sugar rush, these are tracks that maybe take time but they are beautifully crafted and pull on your emotions that a lot of other artists only dream of doing, and stay with you forever.

I quite like reading reviews and from all the pointers this seems like an album I am going to love and love even more after every listen, and the only opinion that matters like everyone else, is my own, and I for one cannot wait for the full proper release to take me away into that lovely BoC world.

I thought this was gonna be a trance song at first and I was like "what really?".

Some people aren't going to like this album. There are always some people who are disappointed in their latest release. They're pretty damn talented but it's not like they have supernatural powers that they can make music that every single person will like. I wouldn't either dismiss or praise it as their best at this point til we hear the whole thing properly though. I had to listen to Geogaddi a few times before I fell in love with it. It took me years with TCH (I liked it ok, I just wasn't amazed. Now I'm amazed by it).
All of old. Nothing else ever. Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
