first the "822" in the TH gatefold art, now 1905-05-22, it's a stretch but I'm DOING THE NUMBERS

The final post mortem from the "authority"...

- To be clear, I'm not really expecting anything substantial to come of May 22nd itself - but 5:22/110 is a number that seems to be referenced often in this thing that they have been doing. For reference, it falls exactly in the middle of SIsters (released 2/22/16) and 8/22, whatever that means.

- That being said, they have telegraphed future moves via supposedly innocuous website programming errors within the recent past (Mr. Mistake vinyl/Soundcloud)

- There's a picture that many of us have seen of a Goodyear blimp hangar with 822 printed over it in the photostock (which was what was used, reversed in the TH artwork) - see the TH artwork speculation thread for the deets on that

- Day 822 of the ARG will be September 6th, 2018 (Sixtyniner-ish, I suppose) - the hilarious concept of a so called ARG that runs 822+ days isn't lost on me

- Lots of flight/motion related imagery so far in their social media posts over the past 2 years - birds and planes and highways

- Slow This Bird Down is 6:09, it's coming up as video 120 on their official playlist (we are at 111 now in terms of combined tweets/likes) - 6:09, Sixtyniner, September 6th, etc

- The lesson to be learned: transform your plane into a blimp or you might just crash and burn if you are not ready - take it slow as you close in on your destination, bro

What would be interesting, would be if someone contacted Spotify and asked if it's a glitch or the band/label who changed the title.

Would they answer? Who knows. Can't hurt to ask though. 'Shy bairns get nowt'

I saw someone tweet at Spotify and they asked for the link to the song, so, they're alerted.

The fact that it hasn't been fixed yet is setting off flags. What could it all mean? It's probably not Opopthecary's nutty number theories, but it's gotta mean something! ;)

Also, why just this track? If the date theory on Reddit is correct, wouldn't that affect other tracks of a similar nature? ie. 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins or whatever?

Dunno, I've a feeling about this one.

Same here. If it is a database error then it should be like this since the first BoC catalog listing on Spotify? We would've seen this from the start. There no need to change titles after.

But maybe Spotify upgraded their DB systems!!!1!
Come on, very unlikely. That would be really stupid. I assume every title in the Spotify DB are text fields and no date or data fields. Besides that, "1969" is just a number, NOT a formatted date. 1986 Summer Fire is also there with no problem.
Even weird titles of Autechre or AFX display perfectly fine on Spotfy.

I even checked other bands with dates as track titles. For example, back in my teenage screamo/hc period I listened to a lot of Poison the Well. They have a song called: 12/23/1993. Guess what, it displays perfectly fine.

Good point. There are actually a lot of tracks from various artists on Spotify called '1969'.

Btw, a cached version with 1969 on the tracklisting here:

If it was indeed some mistake by Spotify, why was the Geogaddi tracklist correct earlier?
I find it hard to believe that these mistakes can suddenly happen while there are tons of other songs called '1969' are unaffected by this so called bug.

And the Smallest Weird Number before that. Maybe it's a hint.
Oh well damnit, we really need Opothecary for this kind of rabbit hole stuff.

4/20 being the 20th anniversary of MHTRTC i'd say this is probably more than a coincidence/bug

Oh wow, nice find! Totally agree with you. I don't think this is a coincidence. I will check their activity more often these days. Especially if this 'bug' will eventually be fixed or not.

Cheers!

I'm not sure if the brothers would be so sentimental about the 20th anniversary as to release something on that date, But since it was their debut album it would have been very important to them. Maybe this date will mark the apex of their career.. or maybe the end!

I know this is cheap humor but can you actually imagine if a new boc album dropped on 420 lol

Definitely not the end, not with the tweets they've been bringing attention to recently. 8)

The only way I can see things "Ending" is if they retire after their next release, but it's more likely that they'll just go into hibernation again.
