At the listening party I went to, I got actual goosebumps and got choked up when we got to this one.

I actually do think it fits on the record. I think it's a very deliberate twist or pivot. I've never gotten the feeling the brothers do pointless inclusions, and I think the fact that this is ALMOST the last thing you hear on the album (not counting the bonus track really, it's bonus) is not a coincidence.

You've just been through Hell when you hear this for the first time. I think this song is right where it needs to be.
another silo full / another dark dawn / bending the air / love is so small

returnal \ you've never left \ you've been here the whole time

Yep, hard agree.

Everything about this track is wonderful right down to the final flutes at the very end during the fade-out. I don't really care if anyone considers it fan service or a backward-looking track, it puts me in an extremely happy place. While musically Boards have progressed so much over the last thirty years, their warm, bleeping analogue hearts are still there, just where they were in 1990s.

Tbf I've listened to this particular track an absolute fuck-ton of times and that feeling just gets stronger with every play.

Easily my favourite track on the album, as others have mentioned it feels like such a release after being through such an intense dystopian odyssey! The more I listen to do it, the more majestic it gets. Almost like a realisation, there potentially is a way to escape this darkness somewhere, somehow!

This track gave me instant goosebumps and hairs on end. I don't mind saying that it brought a bit of a tear to my eye when the flute bits and it all kicked in at around 3:09

Feels like someone recorded a BoC track from memory.
Everything we love about classic BoC is in there.

Definitely. Master class in relentless tension building and then hit you with the sweet release.

It is literally the moment of returning to childhood before death, just before the heartbeat stops and your soul is uploaded to the cloud. Such an incredible, end credits vibe to it, I utterly love this track.

someone commented somewhere it sounds like a goodbye or a 'see you in a bit'.

Absolutely lovely. Gives me ‘Peacock Tail’ vibes from TCH with its progression.

For sure. A little blend of 84 Pontiac Dream and Nothing is Real.

Convinced that this, and Introit, are the sweeteners for the fans. This is so beautiful and warm, as mentioned above closer to the TCH vibe and I'm all for that.

I can see a lot of people picking this as something to be played at their funeral (probably not me, that is "Melissa Juice" or perhaps "Poppy Seed (Reprise)").

Absolutely. Forgot to call out Nothing is Real as a similar vibe. Pontiac Dream for sure too…

There are a lot of nods to previous work all through inferno but, not in a redundant way. It’s very much still fresh and new yet uniquely familiar.

Something they do extremely well.

Agreed. Makes me hopeful that they listen to Tame Impala.

Makes me feel warm.
Unintelligible (take the L to the i).
ON THE AIR. Pre 1000. Cheese.

Classic BoC sound without much tape degradation/saturation.

The thing I appreciate on repeated listens is how it holds back on breaking into that BoCy refrain. They could give us that moment within seconds of the get go but they don't.

Instead we get this simple music that sounds for all the world like the kind of repeated melody nuns sing prayers to. It's like we've spent the album in the church, and we follow them down the aisle and emerge into the sunlight of a new day.

I will never forget hearing this in the listening party, the nod of recognition that went around. It's a beautiful track.

I genuinely think this may be the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard.

I'm loving this track...its so gently beautiful...I started welling up.

This may be strange but from 2 min 47 seconds I keep thinking it sounds like an imaginary Carl Sagan TV programme theme tune partly composed by Daft Punk. Also the intro to an old UK ITV Schools program called 'Picture Box' popped into my head.

I broke the 666 mark to say this really hits deep. Brings up emotions I can’t run from, hide or deny.

And as hard as it might be, there’s a cathartic release, queue the last half of the song.

It’s fucking weird getting old.

Like others have mentioned, the album it reminds me of the most is TCH. Not really MHTRTC. 84 Pontiac Dream, Oscar See Through Red Eye, little bit of Peacock Tail.

The chord progression is actually kinda close to IABPOITC (the tune), though with very different effect.
