Or at least the clip of it that radio stations play between commercials.

Basefree? It doesn't really "feel" like a BoC track to me, plus I always skip it when listening to twoism - just seems to ruin the mood for me. :X

I don't understand why so many people dislike that track. It's probably my 2nd favorite track on the album (Twoism being 1st).

i'd be willing to bet most people would agree with me if I said "the drums".

not all of us like tightly-repeated patterns of heavy bass drums that barely modulate at all for 6 minutes. it's seriously like one bar of a drum loop that just pounds and pounds relentlessly, like it's too egotistical to share the musical stage with the melody of the song.

either you dig that, no problem, or it's 6 minutes of BoC you never freaking listen to. i'm in the latter camp.

The first time I listened to Basefree the drums did put me off, but once I learned to listen to what's in the background it quickly became one of my favorites on that album.

Being the son of a drummer, drums are one of my favorite parts of a song though. I don't know what Dave Chappelle was talking about, electric guitar does not make me want to dance.

Track 08A, THAT'S six minutes of BoC I usually skip.

Magic Window on youtube (why?): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUsBjlRKjHk

Tho the comments are priceless.

"sadly its a bad soundquality"

"this song always gets stuck in my head"

"This song is like an anthem for nihilists."

"SOMEONE MAKE A MUSIC VIDEO!"

lol

i wouldnt count hell interface as BoC while it is still the sands it is not BoC, ImO.
id agree probably one of those songs from random 35 track tape, i cant remember which one it is but there are some songs with guitar on there and its very unlike them. it freaks me out to even hear it

I mean, what's the point?

and

Basefree is so out of context on Twoism. I like the heavy repetition but it has no place here.

Lots of stuff on the old tunes rips. Dunno which ones since I've only listened to those tracks once or twice, "mehd" and never played them again.

Rhythm is what makes people want to dance. That comes (generally) from bass and drums. Not guitar slash/clapton wannabe wanking.

I hate Trapped.

That's it.

Everything else is a 10/10.

And some are 11/10.

Sun Apr 17, 2011 9:32 am

What, people don't like Basefree? :(

I'll admit, when I first heard it didn't really care for it either but have learned to appreciate it later. It's a unique track from them. There's just this really somber feel about it I think no other track posesses. Plus the drums are very good too imo. Probably the most beefy drums BoC has ever put together.

Twoism has other unpopular tracks too, like Melissa Juice and 1986 Summer Fires, that I think are way underrated. Also, is it just me or am I the only person who really loves Zoetrope?

Sun Apr 17, 2011 1:51 pm

That's all fair, I'm not saying anyone shouldn't like Basefree if they do.

I should've just said that it's a very repetitious and unapologetic song, which leaves much less room for someone who isn't terribly charmed by it to become so, especially if they're disinclined towards the kind of drums and bass going on there. I like dubstep, I like Drum N Bass, I'm not opposed to heavy, repetitious beat loops or heavy bass, but something about the particular, soupy, pounding, thundering bass in Basefree makes it feel like it's all happening inside the resonance chamber of my brain, damaging things in there. There's just too much there for me. I'm unable to get past the point of feeling like the drums are just saying "FUCK YOU I'M BASEFREE. FUCK YOU I'M BASEFREE."

you know, when i first downloaded MHTRTC before buying it, it came with this version of happy cycling

until i got the actual thing a year later, i went the whole time thinking this is what it was supposed to be

pretty much the same, really

i actually do rather like the beginning.. :(

The utter abomination that is House of Abin'adab. How anyone can say any track is worse than this is beyond me.

Well, except for Magic Window.
