Btw "tape 05" that's what Michael was showing us in 2024 on the Instagram. The message is clear. Gives credibility to the account if it hasn't been confirmed official

Had to switch that off after 5 minutes as I was getting irritated by him raining on our very real parade. Perhaps if you disagree with the unanimous sentiment of the commenters than maybe it's possible you're in the wrong? And if you think it's a "nice 3 minute ambient track" then that speaks volumes.

F# minor - V third inversion (ie lower the D to a C#/F#/A)

B major - I first inversion (B/D#/F#)

and you'll notice the end of the harp melody brings back their signature https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECLELkeAvyk&t=11s

Starting to wonder if there are 7 members of the collective now and the visuals are a team effort. Man that thing still hits like a dose of voltage.

I never watch any opinion/reaction videos because it seems psychotic to think anyone cares how they react to anything. I felt, looking at the thumbnail, like this is the kind of guy that approaches people after gigs to tell them why they were wrong to have enjoyed the music. Then gives them his opinion like it would hold up in a court of law. I hope they forgive me if I’m wrong

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the video to me feels very much like it's telling a story.
Obviously open to many different interpretations, but on my last view there, I had a giggle as it struck me that it could be interpreted as a gentle pisstake of the BOC fan's journey, particularly the music building up through dancing, discovery, the search for knowledge and finally anger with the taking up of weapons, demanding new music and finally, from 1.40 on, the release and euphoria when the new music finally arrives....

Watching on my little outdated travel computer, high up in a casino hotel in Las Vegas, the desert hills in the distance, absolutely the perfect place for my first time.

Thinking about the way the hexagons zoom out and rotate anti-clockwise. Reminds me a lot of film trailers, but can't think of a specific example. Someone here will think of one.

Seeing so many other people be moved to tears by this adds even more significance to the news. Amaze amaze amaze. Glad to be here with y'all.

I had no idea I'd just burst into tears if this announcement ever came. It feels like something came alive again in the world and inside myself. Such a profound feeling.

It's like a veil lifted off this persistent loneliness and fear for the world after covid that I didn't even really know ran so deeply. The folks describing it like stepping back into the right timeline are spot on. I didn't realize I'd kind of given up on it.

Also, the symbology in Tape 05...guns, cults, religious iconography, dystopia...eerily perfect timing considering the state of the world.

Although it looks like a closeup of a vhs tape, it still could just as well be some other magnetic tape. Wouldn't give too much credit to those types of accounts unless they post a picture of themselves having a pint.

100% this. He's basically saying we're wrong to be emotional and treating it like it's a watershed moment in our lives. Okay, whatevs. All I know is that I blubbed stupid amounts of tears at this. I don't think, at my venerable old age I have ever been so emotional at a piece of music, including real watershed things like Bowie's final release etc. It gave me ALL the feels, and still does, and that emotion is true and real. Some of this is undoubtedly due to the provocative and worrying time we're living in, but don't tell me I'm faking my love for it like I'm some teenage fanboy.

It’s impossible to conceive of a more emotional way to return than this. No added commentary, context, etc. just a magical piece of music. It’s not shaking me that they returned, but it’s definitely shaking me HOW they returned. This piece is transcendent. I’m 45 now, married w 2 kids, have adult priorities, etc. but here I am crying at the return of my all time favorite band. Words can’t explain what they’ve meant to me and my life. I’m just completely rocked, over here.

Same here--"profound" is the right word, and it really does feel like stepping back into another time before things changed. I honestly hadn't listened to too much BoC as of late. But after seeing the video, I had to go on a long walk around the neighborhood while listening to some BoC like I used to, and it felt like both a new world and like an old friend was right there with me :D

We had a few small Twoism meetups back then, from 2007 to 2010 or so if I recall correctly.

I lived on a wildlife preserve during the Headphase era. This necessitated biking several miles through the forest at night to get me some WiFi and hear Oscar See Through Red Eye the moment it dropped.

Rambling around that neck of the woods, especially after hours, is simply an excellent use of one's time.

Especially when in good company, and well provisioned in multiple dimensions. Or so I'd wager.

Never met another BoC fan I didn't jive with pretty much immediately.
