It's the kind of thing that would be cool in hindsight and you'd wish you could do but to plan something ten years away with a cryptic clue is insane. Who knows what will happen in that time. They might have had a burst of creativity and want to release 3 albums, Warp could go bust, or worse. Of course, they are no tied to the clue by pain of death but I think it's really silly to waste your time and hopes looking backward. Yes, Boc look backward with their musical vibe, ideas and timbres but personally, you'd expect them to look forward, like any artist, you release something and it's out there, done. Chapter over. Move on and make something fresh and new.
And like us all, they are flying by the seat of their pants and something will come together and form an album in time. They are normal dudes, not super brains.
You really don't need forethought to be honest. They could look back at their artwork today and pick something from it (822 for instance) and use that gimmick for a future release thing. This way they didn't need to think about it in 2013 and still make it an actual thing. But I agree even in this scenario this seems very unlikely to me.

The internet is evil, but HexagonFox is still here, it made me remember "feeling bad can feel good" and that the Autumnal Equinox is coming. Almost done harvesting. My heart goes out to the people who suffered from the rains and the floods. While it was faint at least we had a glimmer of the stars on 8/22.
We have an incoming transmission on the horizon. It seems The Brothers are in the past, present and future at the same time. They could be approaching their hardest task yet.

I feel like the album was completed some time in the past year or so and Warp's marketing team have been holding on to the release, reason being is that if they release it in 2023 the marketing team can use the "decade long wait is over" language which, let's be honest, is extremely powerful.
I don't believe the wait will be for nothing, Aphex Twin followed up his decade long wait with not only Syro, but also Cheetah, Computer Instruments and Collapse. I expect at this point, BoC will follow up LP5 with a few more projects, I doubt we will have to wait too long, probably just a year or two apart.
My final point was as to why I believe it'll be between January and June. IF indeed the album has been completed and turned into Warp since the "I Feel Good" video. Then the album will have to go through a few phases, such as mastering, music videos, and other kinds of marketing decisions.
I don't believe the album will just randomly be announced on Twitter, they're smarter than that. They want people to be excited, so I'm sure something creative is being planned. All of this ties back to the marketing team wanting to use the "decade long wait is over" quote, if indeed this is the case, I believe it will release before the end of THIS fiscal year, as marketing teams normally go by fiscal years, not general years.
We are currently in the 10th fiscal year since Tomorrows Harvest right now, it will end on June 10th 2023. Would it not be funny for them to release it on June 9th 2023? Which, just so happens to be a Friday.
Anyway, just a bit of speculation on my part, it's been a while since I've been able to offer anything speculation wise, but here we are, I officially have a new timeframe to believe in.

With that in mind I almost wouldn't be surprised if what we've heard of Acid Memories and Hooper Bay were actually interludes chosen because they sound more like modern BoC than the rest of the album which is probably full of guitars and vocals lmaoMike wrote:We started in the late 80s playing together in a guitar band but using a technological environment like samplers or synths, in the same way as Killing Joke, Nitzer Ebb or My Bloody Valentine.
Sounds an awful lot like These Trails by Garden Botanum and also a few tracks on the R35TT, doesn't it?Jockey Slut Magazine wrote:Absurdly rare, cassette-only release from the barely teen Boards, then six-strong. Guitars meet electronics in embryonic but recognisably Boards-ian melodicism.
