This production, especially with how the beat changes into a bit crushed version… sounds a lot like Mark Van Hoen’s production style to me in a way. Especially the album from his alias Locust with You’ll Be Safe Forever LP sharing some similar ideas with religion and consciousness and cults etc.. also reminds me of some in between Meatbeat material
Love the guitar that comes in at the beginning… really unexpected. Shoegaze Synthrock Dub lol

This looks like to me an ibm 7904 or possibly earlier mainframe but could be mistake. The tape machines at the top have a bit of a PDP look to it but thats the limits of my retro computing.

I'd say it looks similar to this though

I was stunned by the amount of sounds and textures they put into all of this--and I laughed with joy when the beat and the guitar kicked in. Much more of a bright sound than I was expecting from so much of the marketing. I'm a happy guy. So grateful BOC have come out of the bunker/pub to share their work with all of us.

P.S. It is funny that reddit and perhaps other places have people's immediate reactions--whether they like/dislike it. So many people have been trained to react rather than pause and take things in--liking/disliking is the most boring way to engage with art. I hope to completely ignore all of it.

They do sound like tablas too, although not as resonant as when you hear them played on a traditional recording. The tone is so similar to Alpha and Omega. I love how the album immediately drops into this groove. And to your post script - yes, it has an homogenizing effect that’s insidious.

I’m about to listen to the FLACs.

Im astounded about how they manage to sound so different, but still have the feel of Boards Of Canada. At first i was shocked by the track and a little confused, but after a few listens i think it's one of the coolest songs they have ever put out. Im even more excited now to hear what the full Inferno experience will be

And the outro section is one of the most beautiful pieces i've heard in a long time

I went ahead and watched the vid and listened to it with my crappy 20€ bluetooth headphones. That was the right call. Sounded great.

My quote from earlier applies:
Altruizine wrote:Yeah honestly my thinking is... new BoC? Who in their right mind would get high to listen to that when that's one of the most foolproof methods to get a sober psychedelic experience.

Not necessarily a fan of the word "psychedelic" there though but idk what else to call it

It was intoxicating. Thank you BoC, very cool.

Just thinking about the video now. Solid work. Very reminiscent of late 70s/early 80s World in Action titles, or 70s nature documentaries. There is a lot going on, but the full audio/visual stack are doing good things.

Absolutely love both tracks, but Prophecy is an absolute corker...

I thought that the tracks were going to take a more ambient-esque direction (something similar to tape 05), especially for the reference of what an Introit is, but I enjoyed how they ended up actually, and the visuals complemented the songs so well!! Idk if the rest of the album will be like that, but I'm hyped :D

This is exactly what I was hoping from them without even knowing it. I've always wanted them to amp up the sinister vibes with more energetic, live instrument elements, and was grinning ear-to-ear as the track(s) unfolded. Not only is it totally fresh, but it perfectly recalls their brand of sound in a refreshing way.

I could not be happier. It is absolutely intoxicating. Those guitars shocked the hell out of me in the best way possible. So stoked for the new record!

Youtube has options for a countdown, and you can pick various "themes" and shit. I wouldn't think anything of it. It was probably partially a troll to choose that one. It has nothing to do with the actual video.

Yeah, it took me two listens to really absorb the vibe but yes, I love it… sounds very much like the last Nevermen remix. That washy sound in the outro is an ocean that I want to die in! lol jk

Yes, I’m feeling connected to my instincts because after the Mr. Mistake Remix was released I remember thinking “I hope their sound continues to move in this direction.”

The copyright at the bottom of the strobing message is for MBI (Moody Bible Institute, from the VHS promo voice) and the year on it is MCMLXXIX = 1979.

ugh I just love all of this! I can't believe we're getting to experience this after all these years, it's surreal as hell.

Great oppurtinity to have a listen today. They put a lot within these 5 minutes. A LOT.
Awesome intro and the smooth change of mood, I can hear some voices at the beginning of the Prophecy in the left channel definitely (during the flute phase). Such a good BOC! It's heavy!

Wow, now that WAS interesting. My first impressions were - very hauntological, quite Advisory Circle in parts, other bits possibly confirming the idea that if Geogaddi was the 1960s, CH, 70s and TH 80s, then this is their early 80s/90s album?
Feels like the album will be more of a single longform piece (hence the 'continuous mix' opton) rather than particularly defined individual tunes.
Liked it, sounds great, fantastic production, not particularly original, but feels like the album as a whole will be a grower, but then all their albums have been for me.
