oh absolutely :D

i just still kinda wish it was firstly the original Warp logo (instead of the new one encapsulated inside a circle) and i really really really wish that the Desingers Republic was still around and doing the design

not to say that i don't like how it's turned out, i just have a thing for tDR stuff ;)

Well from what I've heard it's cos Warp didn't pay them for a lot of stuff that helped the company fold, though that could just be a rumour.

Fully agreed about tDR stuff!

Please tell me that you aren't serious about this being the new Warp logo??

that seems to be the new logo, it's on every recent release after Quaristice. the Pivot album has it on there

well according to Ian Anderson in interviews it was VAT that killed it, although of course i guess that could've just been fluff.

either way, it is so sad that tDR isn't around any longer. to be honest, i don't think Warp (as we know it) will be around that much longer either

True. I guess that's just the natural order of things but when it's something you actually have some kind of connection to it seems that bit keener. It was TDr that got me into being a graphic designer in the first place, really, so I do owe them a certain debt of gratitude.

sorry, i hope my tone didn't come across as "well i heard this so it must be right", i just meant that's what i'd heard...it'd certainly be interesting if it was due to something to do with Warp, considering the close ties they had and the amount of work that they did for Warp.

they also made me wanna do graphics stuff! shame i can't actually do anything :p

No no, I wasn't saying that, I have no doubt that tax certainly helped the demise along, but I remember reading an interview somewhere where he mentioned companies not settling their bills not helping either, and there was some discussion about how Warp were one of if not the major client for them (on a bread and butter level) and how it was odd that their work started to decrease at the same time as the company started getting into a spot of bother. I dunno, there is a whiff of 2+2=5 about it, but it would be extremely ironic if the company that helped make them a "household name" turned out to be the one that killed it too.

Aah cool, I misread encapsulated :?
The 'new' 20 logo is temporary so it's not really the new Warp logo to me.

well, like i said - it's on the Pivot album, and it's on Bibio's album. and i didn't mean specifically the 20 logo, i mean like the one that Novayshun has posted

i dunno, i'm hoping they're only doing it to mark which releases came out during the year of their 20th anniversary, but it looks like it may be permanent - the never did the same thing during their 10th

i just also gotta say. what a damn shame this couldnt have been the last tDR package. quaristice was ok... i did hear that ian anderson was going to keep working though.

totally agree, i think if tDR had done this it would've been something infinitely more special. we might even have gotten a laser etched steel case out of it again ;)

ahhhhh i don't want tolook
i reeeeeeally want to
but i'm not gonna

haha i do love that steal case. luckily i was albe to find a plastic sleeve for mine so it wouldnt get all smudged.

Fri Sep 18, 2009 9:32 am

The demise of tDR was a real shame. I loved what they did and the fact they were Sheffield based like Warp (used to be) made them even more special.

I think the Box set looks ace, although I'm not totally sold on the loop motif.

Presumably some peeps are getting early version for review purposes. It was reviewed in the Wire and that was ages ago.

I'm off to the pop-up Warp shop tomorrow - a sort of pilgrimage - so it'll be interesting to see what they have in stock. I'll be wearing my BOC Tee and carrying my Warp satchel :)

That's no more of a spoiler than any of the images warp have already released. Or did I miss something?

Fri Sep 18, 2009 6:01 pm

i finally got a reply from Bleep regarding this (for some reason their first reply didn't get to me!)

Bleep Support Email wrote:Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying to this. We just needed to clarify the situation with Warp. Those to be shipped to the UK to arrive at the end of next week, around the 25th.

Europe and the rest of the world will receive their boxsets in the week of the 28th.

Kind regards

Bleep Support

so those of us in the UK may still get it by the 25th as originally promised.

well, the official images are a bit vague in parts...this vid just shows a bit more detail, opens up the CD sleeves etc. some may think it's a spoiler. as some people would rather wait until they've got their grubby hands all over the box of loveliness, i thought i'd say that it's a spoiler

From MDG, via WATMM:

the track is called "Spiro"(from a previously unreleased track) and all the loops on the disc are 1.8 seconds long @ 33rpm.

Well, clears that up.
