Oh yeah, that's right, I had forgotten that Peter from Coil died.

He made some awesome Industrial music.

Yep, I just wanted to remark it because I've been dealing with loads of NMH bandwagoners these days who drove me a little bit crazy. Actually I enjoy Jeff Magnum myself, he's a very unique artist and though his classy acoustic music is nothing otherworldly he always manages to get people with the lyrics.

that fucking trumpet...

Most of the stuff I love, I find to be overrated. Take Boards of Canada and Radiohead, they're both absolutely great - but I couldn't reach the levels of hyperbole that some reach in describing either of them as "the greatest band ever". I like music too much to be able to decide who I like the most.

You know what band is underrated? The Smiths. People don't talk about them as much as they should.

Stop visiting /mu/ for a week, it helps.

This is why I think BoC may have released music under an alias:

1. Getting annoyed with their fans. They said they were annoyed with how everyone thought there were dark occultist meanings in TCH because of Geogaddi, and that's what their name was getting associated with frequently.

2. They don't seem to desire a large amount of fame. Probably even moreso now that they have a kid (or possibly kids).

3. Not getting along with Warp. I'm not sure about this, but I've been hearing older Warp artists haven't been seeing eye to eye with Warp lately.

4. It just seems like something they would do, wouldn't it? They love a good secret, it seems.

5. The brothers are most likely living separately, judging by the most recent interviews, so maybe on brother has released solo material on the internet with an alias or something.

6. C'mon, they just lost their urge to release music all of a sudden?

I'm on board with you. Johnny Marr is one of the most amazing guitarists of the past 20-30 years. Such a unique sound he has. And of course Morrissey's voice and lyrics are unlike any other. Love that band.

Dude you can't really think that The Smiths are underrated. They are one of the most celebrated and influential bands of the 80's. And Morrissey remains a very successful and popular solo artist. I think you are way off the mark with that statement.

Off topic, but I think that we should hold a contest to see which musician/producer here can make the most convincing fakes of Closes vol. 1 and/or Catalog 3 (the entire albums), since there have never been any official audio samples from any track on either album.

C'mon, y'all know it'd be a good way to pass the time! And it wouldn't even have to be a contest. We could each interpret the track titles differently, create Closes vol. 1 (as imagined by [whomever], and compare our ideas and sounds.

I am totally up for this

*begins copying BoC tracks and renaming them*

This is probably going to make me resent myself. But oh well. It's not anything serious :D

No, man, you've gotta make new tracks and make them fit the track durations listed on bocpages.org. Otherwise, no one will believe they're real. ;)

I think Cupz has already kicked our asses with his interpretations of acid memories

yeah, i'm all up for 'mellow, disjointed electronica [that is] not particularly revolutionary' as imagined by people who never heard anything from these albums in the first place. can't wait.
