You learn through copying. When you are comfortable enough, through this copying you will find your own style and way of doing things. The masters did it, learning to paint.
BoC emulated the national film board for a bit ;)

(You missed a note or two here and there, but a pretty good shot at it)

Very nice. Telegraph lines always seemed like a reprise of the ending of Chromakey Dreamcoat. The same chord progression, just slower.

Heya people,

I thought i'd share a little cover of Left Side Drive I have made today:

http://www.zshare.net/audio/776564986684a95e/

Im not well at the moment, and i cant realy hear properly because of it, so the mix might be poor.
I hope you enjoy it :)

Also:

Nice work there Synthestesia, it sounded good on my laptop speakers anyway. I'll have to replay it on my proper speakers soon.

fucking fantastic!
if you don't mind me asking, what were the parametres for the patch and lead? (it's just that I've tried for aaages to recreate the sound and you got it pretty much spot on)...

The settings for the bass patch were....

Single oscillator saw wave, with a low pass filter at around 550hz. I then had an envelope, that would slowly raise the cutoff a little over about 6 seconds. Then an LFO at 0.15hz is chainging the pitch by around 1% (for a little warble to the sound and chorus sound when played polyphonicaly).
Pretty much as simple as they come.
Also the filter key tracks by about 35%, providing a soft high end when chords are played.

But the secret effect is...

I have a little tape machine with a big speaker in it, and this thing has a wooden chassie. I just routed my patch into this tape machine from my soundcard. So im just using it as a speaker box/cabinate thing.

When I turn the volume up on this box, the whole cabinate starts to shake and resonate, adding strange harmonics to the sound. I just mic'd up the box with my field recorder and then imported my recording back into Ableton again. Im fairly sure thats the same kind of thing Boc did for that track, it has quite a distinctive sound to it.

PS. Tomisnever, that sounds great man. Do you have any plans to cover the full track? that would be amazin.
