"Another example would maybe be at the end of the whole album, you've reached some sort of sanctuary and then the whole thing is stolen away from you again with the final track."

Exactly!

Oh
My
Delightful
Fuck.

I was just completely engrossed while reading that. After all these years, that all makes me feel giddy inside.

You know......it feels like bumping into Elvis at Tescos :)

"Some tracks deliberately finish earlier than you want them to, like actual cues in older soundtracks where they've been ripped out of much longer original masters that nobody ever gets to hear."

i swear i hadn't read this interview yet when i posted my comment here:

What a great interview! Wow that one just made My day!

Sandison: "Yes, it's loaded with patterns and messages. There are various tricks embedded throughout the whole body of this album

This is going to keep us busy, palindromes, palimpsests and other layers to decipher, whoo ha! :) [drool!]

I haven't read the entire thread so I'm sure this has been discussed already but:

"There's actually more use of subliminals on this record than on any previous album we've done, so we're interested to see what people will pick up on."

 :)

As I listen to this turned up very loud on headphones, I hear more and more in places I did not expect.

Sort of my personal outlook on life. I've always said Nero gets a bad rap. If your world is burning down, might as well spend the final moments immersed in music.

My favorite too. Especially about how parenthood changes your perspective so dramatically.

I'll try to get Mr Frizzi's reaction to being mentioned as an influence.

Caution here. They didn't say they are nihilists. They said they have become MORE nihilistic, there is I find a substantial difference.

Anyway, very interesting interview which confirmed what some people have been speculating.

Great interview. Really interesting. Gives the album more of a sense of scope, not that there wasn't quite clearly one already, and it's clear to see for anyone that was in doubt that they're still as dedicated and passionate an=bout the music-making process as they ever were.

Nobody really wants to accept that we're just a colony of organisms hurtling through a void on a ball of rock. I'd guess that's it, that the most rational individual doesn't really want to have his beliefs completely confirmed. It's in human nature to pursue spiritual or fantastic things, for whatever reason, that's why we like art and escapism, isn't it?
