Seems somewhat convincing, atleast you posted pictures instead of being a shitbag like Data Language Systems and not posting pictures and posting his music... But I think that they would say Boards of Canada and not BOC...

Fredd-E is right, it is incredibly easy to have everyone believe a hoax.

HOLY SHIT FREDD-E IS THE MOTHER AND FATHER OF MICHAEL AND MARCUS??!?!?!! ZOMG NOT POSSIBLE RLY!!!!

Wed Aug 16, 2006 11:22 pm

Oh yeah, Me, michael and marcus are going sky bicycling to the moon ...I'll post some pics tomorrow.

hey man, im quoting this guy! just so people dont think ive made stuff up or something.

i dont think boc would want to get involved in myspace, i mean wtf? not saying its bad to be on myspace but ts not their thing. they are all secluded, deep in their music tucked away in the mountains for mordor in scotland and shit and all the sudden they are "hey myspace".

yeh warp took over but im on about the part of "boc wanting to be more involved" in this page.

Don't get confused people, I only made it up because someone quoted Marcus earlier in the thread. (And that wasn't him either of course :P)

First of all I didn't read the whole thread when I posted that, and second of all I saw boardsofdublin got upset. :(

nice!

but i wonder about one thing...

In this screenshot: http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/6706 ... ed2ag1.png

they state boc being uneasy about not being involved at all in something that is becoming considered by fans as an authorative source of BoC info...

what about my pages then? aren't my pages considered to be *the* boc info pages? why don't they want to be involved there as well?

this makes me kinda sad

I (strangely enough) read an article in Fortune magazine this morning about how Ice Cube is using his myspace page to sidestep the need for a big label.

It seems that a lot of artists, big and small, are taking advantage of myspace.

Thu Aug 17, 2006 9:06 am

Definitely. The whole myspace music thing is so versatile and fairly fucking brilliant...as painfully simple as it is. And its great for boards of canada...because they can perhaps interact with "some" people without having to deal with real email addresses and actual contact info. When i initially made the site I never would of imagined boards actually having interest in my page...but when it DID happened i wasn't all that shocked. It's just a good idea to have one of these profiles...its harmless and fluid. Myspace is a rapid virus and if this particular virus strain happens to be GOOD MUSIC, fucking infect please! INFECT.

Thu Aug 17, 2006 1:52 pm

Yeh, but I carnt see them doing anything different on it, maybe they will add friends etc, great but I doubt they'll comment or release anything on the page. I dont see why it has to be so huge, yeh its cool to see them about on the internet, and signing up to myspace shows that their is a big possibility that they have seen this site.

Actually, looking at that screenshot that warp emaile saying " this isnt a hoax or anything email me to talk fruther" etc, I assume Warp told BoC about the Redmoon incident and I would like to know what they think about it. So maybe a interview on the myspace page would be good, i'd like to see that.

joshkowski, do you get free stuff from warp now? you lucky bastard!

Holy crap, your text is fucking huge! That is some crazy shit about that myspace stuff. At least your getting some cool free shit in the mail, the only thing that sucks is that there are about 35,000 douche bags that really dont listen to em, on myspace. I hate the people who are on there who really think that the artist really checks the page themselves, and then they ask questions like, "Omg you guys rock! When are you going to tour!??? Dayvan Cowboy is my fav! I love your music! Keep up the good work! Kisses". Hahaha.

There's little way to prove conclusively. I mean, I could post a screen shot of an email from God telling me how much he likes my socks.

However, all things told, considering joshkowski seems like a good guy and is not claiming anything outlandish, I'm inclined to believe him here.

Thu Aug 17, 2006 3:02 pm

And, Fredd, don't fret... I think it was more of an issue that the MySpace page gave the impression that it was an official page, whereas your page is quite clearly a fan page. Perhaps if you want some more loving you should remove all the disclaimers and put OFFICIAL in big letters all over the place

Fredd-e's site is the best damn site, the info, the pics, everything. I just have one question, where the hell did he find the info on all the other albums, such as

catalog 3
acid memories
closes vol. 1
play by numbers

Did you just rip it off of discogs? And their album thumbs are 150x150, where did you get the larger images on your site? Thanks.

We are talking about the sae fredd-e site right? The one thats linked from the BOC Pages link up there?

The semi-mythical pre-twoism discography came from an very old version of the Boards of Canada official page, where it was added by the Cosmic Crofter. It was in the same style as the previous revision of the Music70 page, and included the cover images. That is the only place the covers have ever come out.

You can still see the old discography on the Internet Archive.

Wow, thanks! I guess that person had all those albums, but never posted songs right?
