Lol. I'm fully expecting that if BOC play there will be gorillas on the door searching for recording equipment.

I see from the ATP Facebook page, there a few people who think it's definitely Mogwai. Now maybe I'm just trying to convince myself here, but Mogwai are on tour at the moment in the UK, their 'thing' is pretty much live performance, and I imagine half of Scotland have seen them live at this stage in their career, so it's not going to be such a huge surprise to punters if they do perform at this ATP gig.

What I'm trying to get at here is that they're not really 'top-secret', are they?

Mon Jun 15, 2009 7:09 pm

i'm hoping it's boc. however i'm hoping even more that it's a cocteau twins reformation.

If they do play live, you'll have to set up a twitter account and keep us all informed .

I might be on the same boat as you are, but atpfestival.com mentions: "a very special headline set from a top-secret Scottish act".

I wouldn't call Mogwai an act, but rather a band. Now Boards of Canada is more of an act to me! :)

http://www.mogwai.co.uk/

"Mogwai feature alongside Belle And Sebastian, Sonic Youth, Portishead, Daniel Johnston, Animal Collective, Boredoms, Slint, The Dirty Three, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, GZA, Iggy and the Stooges, Shellac, Patti Smith and many others in the new feature documentary ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES from Warp Films. "

Sad that I can't be there though. Flying would be a bit to expensive :(

Yeah Mogwai is featuring in the documentary films. That's not saying anything about the live set.

Also, it occurs to me that you see lots of bands mentioned on all their sites... but almost nowhere they consistently mention Boards of Canada specifically, even though they are also featured in the film. As if they are trying to put BoC in the background of things, to make the surprise of them playing live even bigger!

/cheers for wishful thinking 8)

The problem is that I'm french, and I'd like to be really sure that's really BoC playing live (it's really expensive to go at Edimburgh !)

By no means we're going to be certain about that, unfortunately. Not till after the event of course.

i'd say boc are key members of a shadow organization that define the word secret.

Mon Jun 15, 2009 8:33 pm

I won't exactly be devastated if it's "only" Mogwai. But man, I'll be bloody ecstatic if it's you-know-who.

Wed Jun 17, 2009 5:03 pm

If it is you-know-who (or even if it isn't) for those going, can we have an announcement thread or a separate thread with a difinitive answer and also perhaps a description?

you know, because i'm too lazy to search

If they do play, someone better hide a camcorder up their ass. I wanna see them in action.

But remember to wipe the shit off the lens before shooting! Put it in a bag or something. Use lube too.

Maybe MDG can do a little clearing up for us??
Although I think, if he's a good friend he won't spoil the intented vagueness of this.
Just as of this vagueness, I doubt if I go..
Man, I have to take a few days from work, while it's so busy now, I might even lose my job over it. How do you explain to your boss and clients that you're going to Scotland to see your favorite band..
Pfff, I'll take a good night sleep over it, and have a chat with my wife about this. I might even go after all.. Would be a fantastic adventure though..
Cupz, are you going?
Any other dutchies going to see this??

I'm actually dreading MDG posting in case it's bad news. But yeah, as people are selling cars and paying for flights it would probably be a good thing if somebody could find out on the hush-hush.

This time next week I'm going to be climbing the walls....
