of all the things i have the hardest time not getting my hopes up about or daydreaming of
it's this
imagine the gathering of twoism members to see them live. would be absolutely epic!

Even if they did play live they'd never come to the US, so I'd be shit out of luck anyway. Meh.

Awesome find man..quite impressive addition to the BoC-mythology. It's like a treasure hunt of BoC history!

Pretty much. Them playing live, let alone in the states, has never occurred to me. Kinda sucks it has to be that way.

Possibly the biggest single movement of geeks this side of a Star Trek convention.

Interesting, just found this in the archives of the 313 mailing list. Didn't have a review before for the 1997-02-20 Autechre show at which BoC provided support, but we do now, and from none other than the man behind EHX himself:
Phase 6 wrote:Anyway, next up on the stage was Board of Canada. They have one main
record out so far, released last year on Scam, which they were
punting at the gig. I have their first demo tape of 20 odd tracks,
but was more impressed with their live sound. A good solid
orchestration, but preserving the "bedroom studio" sound. Their
overall style is fairly tight, maybe a bit too tight, with little
room for onstage experimentation. They are local to Edinburgh, but
have supported quite a few bands now, including Autechre in England at
various events. I rate them as one to keep an eye on.
Interesting that he suggested they had played a good number of shows already, as to my knowledge the only earlier shows confirmed are 1996-07-19 with Autechre and 1997-0215 at Versivo. So maybe there's some even earlier dates we don't know about...
I added the rest of his review for this show to
Google Notebook for the curious.

Stumbled upon this and had to smile- in light of the "movements" re: the TH campaign and talks about possible live performances.

This thread is also a great educational read.

Do you have a new link to that Notebook, Moebius? Google moved everything into Docs

heh, awesome, that was the mailing list i used to be on back then (from around mid-90s i think), the reason i got into BoC was coz of people talking about them on there. I remember how odd the band name sounded then. You should also dig through usenet (i remember there being an idm group on there and certainly i was a member of alt.music.ambient i think it was called). Used to use Dejanews to trawl the groups but Google bought it out years ago, think there's a Google News search now.

for instance (hopefully that link works) just searching the phrase "boards of canada" from (randomly) 1st jan 1994 to choosing 1st jan 1997

Thanks Moebius, all of this is really interesting
