I assumed the window thing was a ghostly image of a child jumping on a trampoline..or something. Whatever it is, it's freaking cool!
The preparation for a dive is always a tense time.

"nice", and as I was afraid of, that it could only make real sense and blossom in the context of the entire album. But then well, that unexplicable "BoC force" haunted me and forced me to replay and replay it over and over. And in fact, it did grow on me. It's really a beautiful track, I can hear many intrinsic BoC constant elements, together with many new ones. It's really great how they manage to always move a little forward trying not to lose their intimate nature.

But well, about the video... honestly people, speaking about its possibile significancy, it looks fairly cheap to me. I did not like the visual side of this campaign from the very beginning, it looked almost like a Pinterest board of Instagram random shots of desert and abandoned stuff (really? Again?). I am not an enthusiastic type of guy so I may sound "severe", but seriously, it looks like any other generically "vintage-looking" videoclip with a hint of nature, clouds and other "mystical" stuff. So basically like tons of other videoclips, from early trip hop ones to later chillwave (or what was that called) stuff. Now I know it's BoC and stuff, but really, this does not force us to find supernatural gold in anything they come out with. Also it's beyond ridicolous to bother Kubrick and Tarkovskij for this, except for a shallow and unsignificant visual similarity - which if that's the conditions, we can assume for any vintage-looking videclip. There is no possible element that can legitimate such a comparison - and this is not a matter of enthusiasm, this is practical evidence.

Let's talk about the music

That's just like, your opinion, man. Seriously though, relax, it's new Boards of Canada.

Love the rock face. Intrigued by the NatGeo/atom splitter. Enjoying the desolate desert theme.

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet is the shot of six prominent pink roses ever so delicately blowing in the desert breeze at around 2:40(?). Nuevas Semillas, if you will.

Thoughts, speculations, conspiracy theories? Please advise.

Oddly, this track is also awesome to listen to when I for my evening jog. The beats work so great with the synthline in the second part.

Suddenly they inverted the colours on the youtube video! Or does this only show for me? Red sky now and green suns, video is 10 times better now.

That cover is really nice, it translates well to guitar.

I agree. While I really enjoy the track, the melody seems a bit off to me. It's borderline amateur, and sounds almost trance-y. I expected a more bizarre sound. Great track, still. Am I alone here?

I've seen a couple people say this here and elsewhere. I don't agree with the amateurish sounding though, I think there are a lot of intricacies here that I didn't notice at first listen. It isn't one of their "weirder" tracks, but that doesn't bother me in any way.

I am also thinking about some songs on geogaddi and wondering what I'd think about them if I heard them as stand alone tracks without hearing the album, and I imagine they would sound a bit off to me too, even though they're amazing in context. I think this song holds up pretty well on it's own though.

I can see where you might hear some trance though, but hey, a little trance never hurt anyone*

*actually I'm not sure about this, it seems entirely possible that trance has been involved in some way in causing bodily harm to someone

Oh, yea - I definitely love all the intricacies and layers. I keep finding more with each listen. I was strictly talking about that string melody in the second half. Just doesnt fit for me at the moment. Perhaps it will tomorrow.

OP here checking back in, I think my speakers at home just suck. I listened to it in the car and the song came alive the way I expect a proper BOC tune to. The beat is a little basic but combined with the undercurrents it serves its purpose of being the lighter nostalgic fare that is then sort of corrupted by the hazy undertones I couldn't properly hear on the home speakers.

I'll be buying myself a proper audiophile entertainment system in time for the vinyl release of TH.

I'm going to go there and listen to Geogaddi until I transcend.
