What do you guys think it will bear the most resemblance to? Twoism-Hi Scores era? MHTRTC-IABPOITC-Geogaddi era? TCH-TCH era? Or possibly something so completely different that it bears very little resemblance to anything they've made before?

completely different, perhaps 'electric' guitar verging towards post rock, an even more accessible route than TCH but dark dark dark. the cover artwork is more polished and straight to the point than anything they've had before imo even though its slightly analog its still cleaner. hope she works out.

I like the new album cover honestly. I think a lot of us are probably burnt out on the whole instagram look that's becomes such a cliche, but looking at it abstractly I think the colors and composition look good, it seems stark but with a surreal wash of light. It reminds me of something but I can't put my finger on it.

I can't wait to be looking at it up close on the lp.

Ditto. It's really annoying me.

Not sure if it's a movie poster, or a book cover.

It'll be hip hop with autotune like in 1969

I think it's going to be quite dark and after hearing the transmissions track a few times today, it's become prevelant that this record has alot to do with, the world's current states, all the messed up things that have been going on, much like how Geogaddi was the arbiter for 2002 and vice versa.

Either way, the tracks look very grim indeed. I'm excited though, after Headphase, I think we need more dark sounding BoC tracks. I'm sure there will also be pretty little jingles here and there as well. Anticipation.

Foreign languages are more cryptic. BoC like to be cryptic...

The artwork is fine. I'm glad it's not the same thing again.

same here, reminds me of something but can't pin it. tried to, i look and see 1,000s of albums covers, i have books and books on it. Storm Thorgeson RIP does come to mind when looking at Neil Krugs approach.

A Cold War theme would certainly match the use of Numbers Stations references and the 70's mainframe terminal used on the cosecha-transmisiones website. I do think the track titles seem grim, but considering the title of the album, it might as well be an album about the cycles of life, of rebirth, like XTC's Skylarking. It could be either positive or negative at this point, no certainties.

The cover art is excellent; the 70's tone, the washed out colors and the font are very convincing, and more down-to-Earth than the radically degraded visuals on The Campfire Headphase.

"All things must pass / All flesh is grass"

Not sure where that came from, but that's just one of the things I've thought of reading through all this chatter and musing on the ideas. Can't foresee where this is all headed, though... There's so many possible Threads of themes to cling to... Everything will be clear soon, I'm sure.

i get the same feeling. I guess that's BoC through and through though, a feeling of nostalgia or de ja vu for something you can't quite pin down.

ching ching  yea its styled like that and type treatment but more subtle and less of the carnage, looks calm but... somethings not right. it ain't giving the story away.

The Quiet Earth, 1985, just reading about that one now.

Does anyone what the other image is? It's a double exposure.

Heres an edit i just did for some fun. I tried to make it look more like a nuclear explosion. Also just more vibrant colors.

The hills on either side of the horizon, below the city skyline look like there from another picture to me and the sunset/explosion is coming from that lower horizon. The old concrete in the foreground with the bushes and the city skyline is from one photo and the sunset/explosion and hills from another. That what it looks like to me.

Makes me think of b-grade 70's/80's movies set in the city. Like The Toxic Avenger or Street Trash. And the synth line in the new video sounds quite a bit like John Carpenter's score for The Thing. [Link]

I don't think it's a double exposure, the stuff in the foreground is the airbase and the buildings just look washed out because of the way the light is and probably fog and/or smog. Not sure what the mountainy looking things are though.

Edit: ok I see what you're saying, that's possible it's two different pics.

yeah, there's that, I thought at first that the mountain looking shadows were that, shadows but the sun isn't down low enough unless there's some water reflection but even then...

Correct me if I am wrong, but that's the sun setting, not rising correct?

Yes it definitely looks more like a blast of anything bad but I just want to get the geometry of that picture, am I right in thinking we're looking west?

See. The Suns in the bay if that's one picture.
