Pretty sure that's just the Flash plugin in the browser showing up the last flash-animation you had loaded while the discography animation opens. In theory, the flash canvases should be seperate between page loads, but in practice the same areas of memory get allocated to the plugin and if it doesn't get cleared quick enough you get old data flashing up, stretched to the shape of the new canvas.

as far as the subliminal messages go. it could be just a loading problem. but i must admit, if anybody was going to do something like this on their website, it would be boards of canada.
k woops I'm just slow at noticing these subtle changes lol. But yeah I most definitely think it's just a flash problem or somethin..
I kinda wish BoC would do some genuine subliminal stuff... would be entertaining

I actually found a pretty interesting easteregg. When you click on discography and then the black box, and then click in between transcanada highway and the blackbox you can almost makeout a ghost image of some text - looks like a number like 0113 or something.

not sure if I stumbled on anything too relevant...but I was a little bored so I started looking through the coding options that Chrome can report and found a few things I think are...neat
below are links to two .swf that are somehow attached to the discography.html page...short loops that I have no idea how to activate without browsing the way i did...do they sound familiar? I don't remember ever hearing them.
http://boardsofcanada.com/audio/06m.swf
http://boardsofcanada.com/audio/06f.swf
the other interesting part is the url...boardsofcanada.com/audio - hmmmmm!
*trying to browse to just boardsofcanada.com/audio doesn't result in anything other than a permission error though...*
*edit* - nevermind, i just saw this has already been mentioned in this behemoth of a thread

Props to beariksson, over at WATMM, for the awesome artwork, predicting BoC's new album cover art!! X)
Seriously, though... What will happen of this topic when the new release WILL be out?
Should it be burned so that never ever again we remember the numerous pages of sheer stupidity?
Or should it be kept, and have a good laugh about it, in years to come?

Ok that was really funny actually, unexpected, I laughed
This thread should be preserved, carved in stone, and furthermore, put on a cubesat and made to be transmitted forever!

There was something going on in the code at the discography site since follow that page informed me this:
"There was a status change in
http://www.boardsofcanada.com/discography.html.
The HTTP response is: 200 OK .
The previous state was: 900."

New theory: Boards have recently undergone a massive stylistic shift, and have already released multiple records under their secret alias, "Mumford and Sons." This was unannounced because they were trying to maintain their mystique.

Why it will stay here in anticipation of the next album release after that of course.

I have noticed when clicking on discography a very brief flash like previously mentioned. I too have never seen it before, and the first time it displayed numbers, all i can remember is a 2 and 0. After some time it was just totally white. Probably just a loading thing but interesting as I have never seen it before and they are well overdue for new material.

Out of interest, who looks at the BoC website with any regularity? I bet I can count on one hand the number of times I've been there in the last 3 years....
