Just listened to 'Somewhere Right Now!' Got it on Slsk, the person's user name was 'annfoeperper.'

It's 100% real! Absolutely beautiful track. Lighter in tone than 'Prophecy,' but still somehow sounds like Geogaddi 2.0 to me. :D

God, I love this. Their percussion programming has improved a lot, and it's the most layered sounding stuff I've ever heard from them. Very impressive!

I couldn't help myself, but kudos to everyone here that has self restraint!

Its terrible and there is no way this is boards of canada :D

I don't think it's real, the track duration doesn't match with the one on the album. That was a nice track and a pretty elaborate fake though.

If you really actually believe this is BoC then either you need your ears cleaned out, or reassess whether you actually really know their music. They wouldn't make something that sounds like a watered down third-rate copy of what they were doing 25 years ago.

Oops, lmao. That’s what I get for listening to this on earbuds at work and letting the endorphins cloud my judgement… *facepalm*

I’ll wait for the real release! The track did sound nice on first listen, though.

Have I completely missed something here? Prophecy At 1420 MHz just got a play on Craig Charles’ show on 6 Music. The opening of the track features loud water sounds like waves lapping? I don’t hear this at all on the video or streaming. Is it my ears or something?

Track is played on today’s show, starting at the 14:48.31 mark.

Also, it goes on for like 17 seconds or so, so definitely not something overlapping from the previous track or anything. I’ve clipped the recording out but not sure how best to post it.

I heard that too. No idea. Loved how Craig mentioned he'd try to get them onto the show but he didn't exactly sound confident!

The only thing I can think of is that the track was processed in some way for broadcast; the outro felt like all the levels had been raised as it didn’t fade out as much as the streaming version, so maybe the intro really does have wave sounds buried deep that were brought out by this processing?

How do you think Professor Seyyed Hossein Nasr is handling his new life as a rock star? Only the orange skittles and groupies for days?

I realise this video is historic now, with the recent listening parties, and the imminent release. But a weird little thing for you all. Watch the video for this one in black and white. Reveals a lot more from the visuals.

I may have found a harmonic relationship between the root note of Prophecy At 1420 MHz and the frequency of 1420 MHz itself (aka the Hydrogen Line).

The drone at the beginning of the track (around the 29 second mark) provides a solid reference for this tonal analysis. It registers as a C, plus ~39.5 cents. So, it appears not to be standard tuning.

Subharmonics of 1420 MHz (by octave reduction) land on roughly E +46 cents. This can be redefined from standard by using A4 ≈ 439.22 Hz, remarkably approximate to the standard tuning of A4 = 440 Hz. The odds seem highly improbable, but I digress...

Overall, the apparent tuning of the track differs from subharmonics of 1420 MHz by just ~6.5 cents. The human ear can register about 3-5 cents difference on average, which puts this close to an interval that's indistinguishable for most practical purposes (especially on vinyl).

If this was globally detuned using tape, etc. it would be insanely precise. In theory anyway!

I'm way behind on this thread so pardon me if this has already been discussed, but can anyone else hear a vocal sample at :03 on Prophecy in the left channel? I can't believe I'm just now noticing it!!

It's killing me that we don't know what this is saying yet.

I just wanted to say how great the last couple months have been knowing BoC are back in action. It feels like a special time right now. Like I have temporarily transcended out of a decaying hellscape. Totally distracted me from the doom scrolling and events that leave me feeling hopeless.

Introit will forever play in my head. It rolls around in there whenever I think of this time. The anticipation. The forum coming back to life. The Introit / Prophecy video drop. Standing in line with so many other fans in LA.

In the top 3 of album openers.

It sounds like "<a single word I can't make out>" then "let's turn around". The vocal samples do continue in the left channel for quite a while in that track, it's really hard to decipher them though.

Happy to report that, while I was a little worried I might overplay Prophecy or get sick of it, it might *still* be my most listened-to song off the album even post-release.
