Ok, so I posted before with a soundcloud but after 50 listens no comments or anything, so I had another go at it.

I isolated the sample. It's played in a kind of pattern and stuttered and repeated, but I'm relatively sure this is the basic "sound" thats being manipulated.

https://soundcloud.com/highscheme/isola ... imes-voice

I tried slowing it down and speeding it up but I can't really make out what it would be. Someone who knows how to isolate frequencies could probably do a much better job than me. All I did was pick the simplest (quietest) part of the track where this is repeating, then just trial and error with the visual EQ until I could find the general range where the voice is. I then just killed as much of the other frequencies as I could and boosted the ones with the voice.

I don't think its it but my first 2 guesses were "Liberty" or "Reservation"

Please if someone knows how to isolate sounds more effectively, pitch in. I'm pretty sure this is somehow decipherable as my methods are so rudimentary and I uncovered this much.

It's burried so far in the track that you can barely even hear it in the beat unless you know the cadence of the pattern and have some good headphones. It repeats for the entire length of the time where there is a beat in the song and isn't present in the intro or outdo.

The original longer version is still on my soundcloud too if you need more perspective on where it would be.

Here's a few things I've managed to pick out via Audacity after slowing down.

At 1:46 "Thank you!"

As of 2:15 - "That's why…" *incomprehensible* "…cause time moves so quickly" repeated…

When reversed 1:30 from the end "Dangerous" Repeating 4 times via right channel (something else is said via left channel as a counterpoint but incomprehensible for the moment)

At 2:36 there's a high pitched vocal out the right channel that's very noisy, and I think it says "chemtrails" when reversed. Here's a slowed-down snippet that helped me hear it:

Let me know what you think! What do you hear?

Pretty sure it says "Dangerous"

I don't hear a voice on either sample you linked… sorry, try upping the gain…

Not mentioned yet but there is a cheeky "Bye-bye" in the right channel which immediately follows the right channel "Thank you" at 1.46

Wow, I just listened on my iPad speakers and it sounds like absolutely nothing.

In my Sennheiser HD25 headphones it sounds way different

I dunno homeboy, i just hear "Thank you" again with a ton of effects on it.

For the cut up voices right afterwards, i get "There's something... wrong" but i can't be sure.

And that looping female voice that starts at 2:16 with "you'll do anything" i hear "What's going on? (Sky told you the crazy man would be six?). You're the last one right now." It sounds like it's all one sample to me but who the hell knows,,

This seems like something from the TV show the prisoner; Where the main character is Six and everyone else has a number as their name as well.

Very good series, I encourage everyone to watch them.

Looks like a good show and a decent lead. Thanks! I'll check it out

dunno if im the only one who feels this way but....
the start of this track feels like stream level quality. super filtered.
a few tracks do. this one being the worst offender. its becoming hard to listen to. everything so centered and noisy, irritates my ears. i wish this track was fuller sounding.

makes me wonder if there is something to add to it to release the actual sound. cuz this one upsets my ears. i LOVE the track...the recording annoys my ear bones.

Yer its like something is hidden just behind surface. there's a lot of gaps before and after tracks where you can hear static, and there's massive changes in background noise during tracks. some of the static is just weird noise at the moment but who's to say that won't change

Love it. It's another grower for me, I didn't think much of it at first but the chord sequence became an earworm, particularly where it goes to a minor 7th with a flattened fifth (listen at 0:28 to see what I mean).

And one thing on this track: we hear the return of the BOC "electric piano" sound! It's tinkling away behind the lead line.

I have been trying to work it out on the piano, and I think I've got most of the chords down now. I'll post again once I have the complete 10-bar sequence.

My favorite so far. The more I listen to it the more I think I hear an underlying sound of tires on the highway...

Yes, I heard this too.

BrunchTime wrote:And that looping female voice that starts at 2:16 with "you'll do anything" i hear "What's going on? (Sky told you the crazy man would be six?). You're the last one right now." It sounds like it's all one sample to me but who the hell knows,,

I hear the female voice also.

At 2:16, I hear "That's why I don't do it myself". At 2:20, "I told you I'd concentrate on six". Then again at 2:25/2:29, 2:34/2:38 and 2:43/2:47. For me, "concentrate" is pretty clear on that last sample.

At 2:59, I hear "Now, I had [to go/a goal]... is that... are you willing to...". Then again at 3:10,

At 3:23, I hear, "It's finished, u-huh".

At 3:29, "I live alone" (man's voice)

At 3:33, "Now, I had a...". At 3:35 "..a hunch(?)"

At 3:45, "I had a.. point(?)"

Finally, at 3:53, "There(?) now, I had a goal(?)... is that... are you willing to..."

I'm listening on a Mac with iTunes. I've been able to make out most of this with the volume in iTunes at the lowest setting (after 0) and the laptop volume between the first setting and half way.

This all beings back memories of when I was in my early teens in the 80s, trying to figure out the words to songs by quickly rewinding the cassette and playing bits over and over on my Walkman.

Maybe overlooked; I reckon it's a bit of a dark horse - ask me again in a couple of weeks!

It's now been 5 months... I don't track my listening choices, but I'm pretty certain this has been the most played song on the album thus far; I really wasn't certain if it would be.

For example, Reach For The Dead is literally 'loaded' with the emotion in both the song and the events that surrounded it; Cold Earth has the strong immediacy of both killer drums and a classic BOC melody - but Sick Times is definitely the 'all-rounder' of the album.

Quite right is the point that it doesn't hit you with anything too grand or weighty, but strikes a balance and is just very solid... I think that works in its favour when measured against some of TH's other pieces.

male vocals sounds like they're chocking, for me this part is seconds after chemical/biological weapon use.

This song has the exact same melody as Pete Standing Alone!

Wow, I never noticed it. A few halfsteps different - but it's identical!

Figured it out by accident. I wonder if this is the case with any other tracks.
