Indeed, good sir.
That song got me into BoC believe it or not, it was very dissonant, yet very melodic... talent.
To be on topic, Soylent Night is very haunting, but I love it. I don't know why, but I often find myself pressing repeat on that song. Something about it fascinates me, the thoughts that would be going through ones mind while creating this would have to be none the lesser of demented.

I actually don't find any of it scary. I never understood why people called it creepy. Seriously.

Yeah same here, I don't find it crepy but so so deep. I could drown in it, the moment when the man starts speaking might be my favourite BoC moment ever. I only wish I knew what he exactly says, it's been haunting me for years now!

Well I don't really find any song from this guys ''creepy''. There are a few which are quite disturbing, mostly in Geodaddi, but I wouldn't call them that way. Hypnotizing could be a better word.

yeah, creepy is a good way to describe tracks like SUNSHINE RECORDER or YOU COULD FEEL THE SKY i think
A BEAUTIFUL PLACE

This is soo weird!!!!!!!!!!
You Could Feel The Sky, to me, is one of the most beautiful songs BoC has ever made!!!!
Especially reversed...
the tones in it are like contradictiary to all of the mentions of satanism...it's like you are emerging in the Limbo levels of hell, about to break through the surface...you see the light, and are ignoring the evil around you...
and corsair is when you burst to the surface of earth.
Not a single BoC track "creeps" me out...I don't think I've ever experienced that feeling before. House of Abin'adab does give me an uneasy feeling, but it's more of something to overome than something to fear.

The "flute" in YCFTS is what gets me. The unsettling contrast of that, and the creepy choir-like sound and the guy screamin/yelling.
It is very disturbing to me. It puts an image in my mind of being in a field at night and hearing a man get devoured by some unseen beast.
And the flute melody gives it a very bittersweet flavor.

First post.
I was falling asleep listening to Geogaddi the other night and The Devil is in the Details woke me up, and in my semi conscious state, I had to skip it because it was too scary.

Welcome! I can imagine that being scary...Geogaddi wouldn't be an album i'd want to sleep to. Perhaps TCH.

I love falling asleep to Geogaddi, especially when certain moments wake you up and you're half asleep, makes everything more effective. Corsair is the best to wake up to for sure though, or over the horizon radar.

Quite easily scared, so the few times i've listened to Geogaddi falling alseep, its completely threw me off the gentle coast into sleep. Still my favourite BoC album though.

I also find Music is Math quite creepy, its the beginning of the path of paranoia leading you into the depths of Geogaddi's claustrophobic centre.

I've left the album, music has the right to children, playing in my car for the past week or so now. so I've done a lot of thinking about the tracks
anyway, i think the song "wildlife analysis" really adds to the creepiness of an eagle in your mind. wildlife analysis begins the album with an innocent introduction to what seems like the beginning of a nature show. then when an eagle in your mind starts, its like everything has gone terribly wrong. the sudden swing in mood is really done well. and adds to the creepy mysterious vibe of an eagle in your mind

In all honesty, whether you think BoC is creepy or not, I think a lot of the tracks are genuinely intended to be a bit scary/eerie and unsettling.

I agree with the posters who said You could feel the Sky, but it's also one of my favourite tracks ever. It's weird but beautiful. I always woke up to the same track when I fell asleep to MHTRTC, and it was always Open the Light. It gave me dreams which brought me to tears and made me choke with emotion, I found that quite creepy as it happened several times. Always took me back to the past and to places and times in my childhood.

Its odd because the track is soothing but Slow This Bird Down has this relaxed yet unsettling, paranoid feel. The bass in this track punches in then sustains, almost like palpatations, weird yet amazing.
Thu May 05, 2011 7:28 pm
...how the hell do they do it, track after track after track
Thu May 05, 2011 8:15 pm
Well, it's been said before but... this could be why it takes so long for them to put an album together. It's probably emotionally and somewhat spiritually draining. Especially like for Geogaddi, they must have had many sleepless nights researching all the dark things they studied. It's creepy to listen to, so imagine creating it. It could be a very unsettling process that they must enjoy in a dark way. I feel almost that way when I listen to it.

Yeah i guess you're right, making standard rock n roll albums are said to be hard enough.
