Nice bio, haven't seen it before but I don't hit bleep much so couldn't be sure it hasn't been there. When I checked Google cache earlier it showed it having been up since at least Feb 11. It certainly sounds new, though, not just a rehash of earlier official bios or blurbs.

"...and pray for the next transmission from beyond Hexagon stars... "

It's on. I can feel it.

I'll make you all a prediction and it's nothing to do with any Warp sources either. I'll be out the country late May/early June for almost a month. I'll virtually guarantee you that by the power of Sod's-law the album and/or live performance will be announced during this time as I'll be able to do the square-root of sweet-FA about it :?

Tempting as it is to start a thread about BoC news snippets, this seems a better place for now until someone else can authentic / confirm what I'm seeing. Just received a BoC Google Alert in my mailbox, but this particular one strikes my eye. Presumably an Autechre interview courtesy of The Skinny;

Autechre: Unknown Pleasures
The Skinny

"As the discussion turns to other Warp artists, Booth warms to a mention of the forthcoming and much-delayed Boards of Canada LP (a group he praises for ..."

(the alert links to http://www.theskinny.co.uk/article/98649-autechre-unknown-pleasures - which doesn't seem to exist, though the origination date is today. Done a manual search at The Skinny, no luck that way either. The above text is all that Google News retrieves. Talk about MEAN.)

So then...over to you.
I'll see you when the sun sets east, don't forget me.

Great find. I've sent an e-mail to skinny for some possible clarification. I'll keep y'all updated.

Ta :) If it's any use, Google News mentions Mark Shukla as the author of the piece.

I see two other blurbs from the article but not the full content.

EDIT: If you search google for the title plus bits of text you can sometimes get it to shift the blurb and show you a little more, here's what I can piece out:

EDIT: full sentence:

As the discussion turns to other Warp artists, Booth warms to a mention of the forthcoming and much-delayed Boards of Canada LP (a group he praises for being "super fucking careful and anal") and is endearingly apologetic when I mention the difficulties of balancing work and and family life: "Oh, I'm not giving them any stress," he insists, in his most peaceable Rochdale brogue, "I just like their music!"

I feel uncomfortably geeky hanging on every word of that, but it doesn't sound to me like that's as encouraging as it could be. "Booth warms to the mention" implies that the interviewer mentioned the subject of the BOC album, and hey, we mention it here all the time without having heard it. We know Autechre love BOC, but it doesn't sound from his reply like he's heard it either.

About all it does do is imply that the reason why the album's been so long in the pipeline is because of balancing music-making with family life, which we sort of guessed anyway.

Still, 31x days left of the year, so... ;)

I've got mail. The article will be republished after the second of March. It was published in advance by error.

Haha, hey nice. So I imagine first official announcements will be made round about March time?

Either way... excellent to see confirmation other than mdg

It's just an Autechre interview with a simple mention of Boards of Canada. Most likely nothing to get excited about... especially as Moebius already completed the sentence:
As the discussion turns to other Warp artists, Booth warms to a mention of the forthcoming and much-delayed Boards of Canada LP (a group he praises for being "super fucking careful and anal") and is endearingly apologetic when I mention the difficulties of balancing work and and family life: "Oh, I'm not giving them any stress," he insists, in his most peaceable Rochdale brogue, "I just like their music!"

Guess there's nothing else related to boc in there... but who knows...

Well done! I didn't see a cache link in the search results; did you somehow reconstruct the cache URL?

OK it's not much to go on, but it does offer one big, blatant clue perhaps:

As the discussion turns to other Warp artists, Booth warms to a mention of the forthcoming and much-delayed Boards of Canada LP (a group he praises for being "super fucking careful and anal") and is endearingly apologetic when I mention the difficulties of balancing work and family life: "Oh, I'm not giving them any stress," he insists, in his most peaceable Rochdale brogue, "I just like their music!"

From MDG and Snufkin respectively here here : "MDG: the new album has been held up over the past year by one or two issues outwith the band's control, but it is finally coming out in 2010."

"Snufkin: One of the bro's has been raising children; that's probably alot more fun (and demanding) than satisfying our needs by pushing a release - I imagine:)"

I think Snufkin's idea could be bang on the money. Wife/girlfriend is blessed with a happy little accident and ping - your studio time goes on the back burner for a couple of years? Could just be that simple. No Warp delays, hell - maybe not even the emigrating to New Zealand/Hong Kong/Sea of Tranquillity. These things happen.

Interesting interview, all the same. Well spotted, also.

Thanks :) I googled Twoist's original link and there was a link to a cached version. It's possible the link wasn't there till yesterday.

Agreed. I mean Grizzly Bear released Veckatimest round about May, when it was just beginning to kick off round and abouts? But of course GB are different and relatively new to the artists who have priority in Warp

Thanks! :D

...Should've gone to the bookies...

But seriously, given the pre-TCH elements of childhood and nostalgia in their music, and the fact that they grew up as children together, it would seem likely to me that these guys would be more than happy to spend as much time as they can with children of their own above and beyond most other things (incl. new releases). Who knows, they may have even got their little one's to play with some elements of any new music they make :)
