The idolized and enigmatic duo are back. After considerable speculation by their rabid fan base (not to mention the media following every step of the way), Boards of Canada have revealed that their new album Tomorrow s Harvest will be released on June 11 via their long time home, Warp Records. Musically, the album is somehow dark yet positive, with atmospheric dissonance and mind-bending melodic creations.

Check the last line, how do they know what the album sounds like?! Would it be information that Warp passed on to them? Seems the most likely case to me...

Is that mentioned at all in the confirmation email? Need to make arrangements to take off work!

If it's anything like the other preorders from Bleep, you'll be e-mailed a download code to download the mp3's, once they're released.

Based on other Bleep preorders, the digital code could show up to a week or two early. No way to know, thankfully my job is good about letting me take a day off on short notice if need be.

Yeah- I brought this up a few pages ago- agree it's probably Warp, but no matter who said it, they've heard it and that last line has stayed top of mind for the last 2 days- mind-bending melodic creations- let me hear it!!!!!!

Hmm? Which/where?

it's at 2:51, on the right side. A silhouetted figure walks by and kind of disappears in the light.

Cool little review. Either the info is from Warp or they actually got a promo copy. Usually record companies give out a slew of promo copies to get reviewed before a release. IDK if that's the case with BoC, considering how they like to keep things secret...

Oh yeah, and I'd just like to weigh in on the "What is it going to sound like" conversation. I don't know, but I'm thinking it will be different than all the others all while still maintaining the BoC aesthetic of course. But it definitely will have it's own thing. I mean, every album is really different from the next. Except maybe the first couple, since all the songs were pulled from the early era (even then, each release has it's own vibe). But saying that you hope it will be a Geogaddi part 2 or wishing it was more like TCH seems like a bad idea. I wouldn't want to set myself up for a disappointment if it's not. And most likely it won't be, but it WILL have that authentic BoC flavor we all love. So I welcome whatever new sounds we get with open arms. Cheers. :)

Completely agree- open mind, no sound comparison expectations. I try to avoid that with everything I listen to.

Yeah I think its important to not have to much of one's own expectations. I had no idea Geogaddi was going to sound the way it did. When I first heard it, I was slightly disappointed and I had to let it slowly become what it was and let my own preconceptions go. Now I love it! Some of it more than other parts but I love it.

Concept albums, like Geogaddi, take on a dimension that somehow makes them more than just music and that's what threw me off at first. There is so much there...you can't just listen. You have to feel that record...or something...

So while I think this record will be unique I think it might have some of the dark elements of Geogaddi, while still being more of an 'outdoors' record like MHTRTC and CFH.

Once again, I will have to engage in the usual self trepanation ritual in preparation for the first listen. :-P

Oops, I missed your post then. Anyway, the description totally fits the picture that I have of Boards of Canada. Especially their ambiguous nature, their music can sound bleak and dark, and happy and nostalgic all at once. They really have a knack for creating a certain mood to an extent that most other artists can't. Can you imagine how the hype is going to explode again in the brief period before release and right after? That's going to be something, I tell ya!

honestly, that sounds like the most ambiguous way you could phrase a sentence about any one of BOC's albums. i used to write brochures for a travel company, and you'd probably be surprised what kind of shit i could write and convince people a destination was a certain way when i'd never even been there. then again, who knows, maybe they have heard it. either way, it's kind of a generic phrase imo.

Can you verify the accuracy of this translation?

I confirm that "seeds of the dead" is 100% accurate translation (i am a russian speaker too)

Actually, translation is half right. It could be 1 dead but "Semena Mertvykh" for many dead.
Semena Mertvykh --> Semena Mertvogo.

"the dead" means "the dead people", see "Dawn of the Dead", "Night of the Living Dead" etc

I can agree on it being a fairly generic phrase, but then again, Boards of Canada is ambiguous. So I'm totally buying that description.

Wasn't that the one that played at the art gallery? It has that abandoned gas station people from reddit went to.
