Might not be anything (or maybe it's already been looked at), but I was just putting in Tarekeys into an anagram solver and amongst the many solutions was Skyeater. So I put it into the search box in Youtube and it came up as a SYNTHESIZER!

That's one of the clues right?

1977/snow/computing/amateur footage/beards/synthesizer

(Apologies if this has already been spotted, it's tough to keep up with it all!)

EDIT: Ok, it's just some mac synth thing. I don't think it could be anything connected.

(To be fair it's also an anagram for ARSE KYTE)

I'll just get back to work...

If it was down to pot luck and the record went unseen, there would be no web buzz.

Just one very important thought.

This - or at least it was sneakily put into the hands of someone who would immediately post it online.

I also have a strong suspicion that the person who found the blank codes in the Julie and Candy vid is a Warp plant - how did they just happen to find that subliminal frame on the right day?

Yep. I mean although it all seems legit at this point, Warp would have put paid to scurrilous speculation otherwise considering it's all over the Real Media, the main hub (that 2020 blog) is dredging up all the right hooks to keep this treasure hunt going.

If left to chance this record would probably be just played twice in the bedroom of some bemused dude who read they were an influential band.

Plus, I'd add that I wouldn't suspect this has anything to do with the band proper, & all to do with Warp playing on BoC's fanatical puzzle-solving fanbase :)

I think it's pretty obvious that Warp people will be looking at everything posted here and elsewhere and will be guiding people towards clues. I would be very surprised if some of the accounts registered here weren't plants. You don't want to put all that effort in then people just don't manage to work it out.

we'll have the album when we have the album, regardless of what we figure out or what happens
as far as i see it, this is warp publicising the album in a way that keeps the loyal fans happy and getting the word out, most of the major media outlets have already picked up the 12" RSD release and ran it, so what more would they want?
*farts*

idk

I have wondered, is this all BoC`s idea, Warps idea and BoC approved or what? Either way, pretty good marketing stunt and damn intriguing. 8)

I think it's all planned out by the Hexagon Sun collective and has nothing to do with Warp

As unromantic as it sounds I think this is much more likely to be at least 50% Warp's baby.

By the way, has anyone discussed the price of the record? $24.99. That must be a clue. 2 + 4 + 9 + 9 = 24.. Then 2 + 4 = 6!

It's all so intricately planned! There I was thinking they were charging $25 FOR 42 SECONDS OF AUDIO. (Then again if there is only a single copy for sale, and they're not acetate, it's safe to Warp is operating at a loss.)[/i]

You forget to add sales tax.

$25...?!

If there are only 6 copies, they'll be worth 10x that shortly.

But I imagine once the trail is over, they'll just make that vinyl general release, non?

That's actually quite beautiful; if Warp flood the market with them once this is all over to make sure Discogs opportunists can't profiteer!

But they won't, because Warp's relationship to vinyl is fucking shit, childish and worse than any other label its size.

In fact, I'm dreading the vinyl edition of whatever release comes at the end of this treasure hunt because it'll probably be ridiculously overdesigned and cost £9999999999.

Because you can't input the whole code. It would be too big. So when i try single numbers, and add the CSCH function up the result is any number.

I do not think that this is really a hint.

Matlab?

11:1-9 may be a hint to a chapter of some biblical book?

"Genesis 11:1-9
New International Version (NIV)
The Tower of Babel

11 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.

3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth."

Interesting, but nothing interests me really except that last sentence...

Just wanted to add that the Rough Trade twitter account twittered the link, so it's legit in a sense that it was most likely recorded in their store.
