After listening and reading interviews and pouring over artwork, a story does seem to take shape. It sounds like the part of the story where our refugees are in hiding. There are loads of surveillance camera stills in addition to the helicopters and other military imagery.
The spider fascinates me, and I kept wondering how it applied or what natural lesson it teaches.

What if these people had to disguise themselves among the dead to hide from predators? A very creepy prospect, which may fit the mood of the song and it's placement in the soundtrack.

Helicopter featured pretty strongly in Day of the Dead too, which has music sounded bang on like this track.

Is the collapse/apocalypse/change/etc hinted at in TH a zombie apocalypse?!

The wife says 'Cyclosa is a middle-of-nowhere type of track. I thought that was a pretty good description. I have yet to hear the helicopters. Still have to make some time for a close listening session.

When Reach for the Dead was released, all this talk of 80's horror movies and John Carpenter was surfacing. Personally I got a Dawn of the Dead feel from the TH artwork. Only had ever seen Night of the Living Dead but I remembered the posters of the subsequent movies. Well, this brought me to my local library where I tried to find "Dawn" but they only had "Day". Boy was I floored when I heard the soundtrack! First of all, it turned out to be John Harrison who the brothers later specifically cited in the Guardian interview. Second of all, I found the sample used in the Gorillaz song "M1-A1" (love it when I hear a sample source)!

Going back to the first point, I find it so weird that they are able to communicate these references and feelings without words. As was discussed in the Guardian interview thread, a bunch of people called out some of the themes and influences on the new record early on.

Listen to this clip of Day of the Dead music.

There's a little bit of "Reach For the Dead" in there, as well as "Nothing Is Real". I'm sure "White Cyclosa" is lurking around in there too!

It's hardly hidden!
The chopper rotors were the first thing I noticed upon first listen.

Wow, what's wrong with my ears? I still can't hear them. Granted, I am listening without headphones on cheap pc speakers.

Weird similarities to "Aways There ... in our Hearts" from the new Flaming Lips album.

I may overlay them with a time stretch to nail it. It's a good mashup, at least.

Spot on. First time I heard this track I had that nagging feeling that I'd heard it before - before the track was over I know it was Day of the Dead inspired. Man, I loved that film as a teenager. Seriously, do a google image search for "Bub Day of the Dead" - First image - that brainy zombie's definitely listening to TH

YEEEES! Bub rules, I might have to watch that movie now. Love Romero and the original Dead trilogy. 8)

That might be why, you're missing like half the frequencies from listening on pc speakers. I would recommend never listening to any music on cheap pc speakers, your barely hearing any of the bass and none of the intricate sounds.
Don't be afraid to persist...
