The strings are ring modulated at 14700Hz which makes them very easy to isolate. Cool. Almost like a different track!

edit: 22050/3 = 14700. Probably an artefact of the way it was sampled, but could be deliberate too :)

It affects me in the same way as compound eye, in other words, makes me long for something long gone past. The tears dripped, I just couldn't help it. How does this happen? It's my favourite at the moment although palace posy is really interesting.

This too! But it didn't hit me during the stream - it hit me today, as the song crept into my thoughts and filled me with melancholy and joy. Quite out of the blue - I wasn't even playing back the record, it just stuck in my mind over and over and over, trying to go somewhere, to resolve but never getting there.

This earworm feels like BoC "Song that doesn't end"

Yes it goes on and on my friend.....!

(please get out of my head... I can't breathe!!!)

Am I the only one that has a feel that the melody was taken from some MHTRTC track?

Not at all, many have noted it sounds very similar to "Roygbiv."

I notice a pretty strong "r" sound before the "t" in whatever that word is, "to ____ unkindly..." and now I can't hear anything but "flirt." "Flirt" makes a bit more sense than "fault" to me. Takes the whole thing up quite a few notches on the depressing scale too. Absolutely wonderful track.

Edit: Food for thought, what if it was punctuated like this:

Jesus, was it you indeed?
To flirt unkindly with my greed,
promising eternal life,
when you knew it was not right?
When you knew that what I'd need was willingness and comfort there?

Reminds me of The Avalanches a little bit.

First listen on the vinyl and first listen since Monday's stream, this is the standout track for me. Absolutely stunning.

It was the instant-grin moment for me, makes me wanna move in funky bumps, just beautiful. I'm sure it will spawn a hundred unofficial remixes

This is more or less what I hear except for me the last word sounds like "here", atleast that makes more sense to me as a sentiment ie yeah promises of the afterlife are nice but what about our suffering here? Anyway, I'm not a Christian so maybe I don't have the right to say this, but that doesn't sound anti-christian (or pro for that matter) to me. I think our suffering right here and now on the terrestrial plane is a philosophical question everyone thinks about. God it makes me feel so sad though.

Anyway. That's it, I'm down the boc rabbit hole. My posts are going to be nothing but crazy FEELINGS stuff for the next few weeks or so.

I have only heard the album once but this was the standout track for me - a real "classic" BOC sound...

I also hear the Roygbiv likeness--and I arrived to this independently, so there's definitely some truth to it.

Love the use of that vocal sample.

One of the best. New Seeds is still my favourite but that last stretch of tracks - Nothing Is Real, Sundown, New Seeds, Come to Dust - my god.

Wow this is excellent, thanks. I notice a little flute melody back there as well which is usually hidden behind the main one. It defo has an easy listening feel but with a sinister edge, fantastic track.

I think this is the most nostalgic-feeling track on the album for me. The way it sounds, combined with the title, makes me remember thinking about all the big questions in life as a kid and just getting more and more lost -- but with a sense of wonder rather than terror.

This is classic BoC
Sagan: In order to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

Basinski: I wanted Cascade to become this crystalline organism like a star or a liquid crystal spaceship, a jellyfish traveling through the galaxy…

I'm pretty sure (on my first impressions/listen) that this is my favourite song on the album, for whatever reason. Absolutely brilliant, I was in love. That shrill melody in the background sucked me in and made me smile :D
The preparation for a dive is always a tense time.
