I don't understand all the hate on Chinook? Am I hearing something different than everyone else, because it's one of my all time favourites...

I'd have to agree with Zoetrope though - while it's not terrible, I do find it a bit annoying at times.

I find that most of BoC's stuff though, if I'm in the right mood, I can listen to any of the songs and really get into them.

I don't understand all the hate on Chinook? Am I hearing something different than everyone else, because it's one of my all time favourites...

My problem with it is that it's just sounds outright BAD, for me at least. Some interesting drum programmind especially towards the end (speaking about the 7" version), but I don't like the drum sounds nor the distortion on them. The boring simple synthesizer melody isn't too rivteing either.

I think they are equally bad, but honestly if were to listen to one of them give me the Boc Maxima version because it's shorter. There's only one track from Boc that I just hate and can't stand and that's Chinook.

Are you still refering to my post, because I'd never say anything "bad" about that song. I love Zoetrope, one of the most interesting tracks the boards have made. The chord progression there is absolutely brilliant. You just need to understand and be into minimalism

Peacock Tail....WHAT!!!!!!!

Weird isn't it? For me that's probably the least "boards of canada" song they haver ever made (obviously ignoring old tunes and such). Main problem: melody and chords. I...just...get...nothing, it's boring, especially since there's little to no progression, just the same loops repeating over and over. Don't get me wrong I LOVE repetition, but here it's just not what I'm looking for. I should also mention that the drums here just aren't my taste. Specifically that accent clap, every time it hits I feel an urge to just skip the track.

Well, like a lot of people I don't really care for those tiny sample-filled tracks off of Old Tunes like Iraq Says.

But as far as their more full-on tracks, I might get shit for saying this, but I really don't like Open The Light. It's just too cheesy and uninteresting.

I like that jibber jabber son! And Light is one of their greatest recordings! Its some of those ploddy pantsed gobbleydook playing the mono like a horse padding around a baking factory that get my goatfolder.

I listened the BoC stuff the whole 2009 year and really loved tracks like Sixtyten, 1969, Gyroscope, Satellite Anthem Icarus and even An Eagle In Your Mind, but since 2 years of listenings i'm tired of them and had a wish to listen other bands like BoC

Odd Nosdamn Dayvan Cowboy remix I never play.

The Color of Fire is too creepy and makes me feel pedo, I skip it every time.

And if it counts, lots of Old Tunes stuff. I know they are more or less demo tapes. They just sound like a collection of very basic ideas that could have been (and many were) expanded upon.

Iced Cooly, I have to skip that one, annoys the bloody hell out of me, it sounds forced, coerced into being funky and yet not achieving much... hate that track, hate hate hate it.

As others pointed out, some of the tapes also contain stuff that is less than memorable in their current form, I never bothered to have those in my iPod.

I don't like that track either – IMO, it's the only truly low point of MHTRTC. If I were the guy that BoC named that song after, I'd be disappointed and ask them to name a better song after me.
