Well, the iTunes listing has "Influences: Brian Eno" but that's about all I can think of.

Eik, that pretty much confirms it then..

Warp's entire catalog has Eno's fingerprints all over it. TBH, saying that a piece of electronic music is influenced by Brian Eno isn't saying much. Almost all electronic music is - intentionally or not.

I agree.

You cannot exactly get "mind-bending melodic creations" through ambiance, I would not think at least.

Will I be able to get the vinyl edition if I don't preorder or will it run out? I don't really feel like paying extra for shipping, and I don't care if I don't get the album exactly at release date.

Alternatively, can I preorder at a local store or do all orders run through bleep.com?

Where do you live? I am sure you can preorder it at a local record shop, if you have one that is.

Absolutely agree. I'd like to smugly predict there will be much wailing (including us Twoism-ers) when the album fails to turn out to sound like vintage BoC. There's already a rumor that the brothers said 'people will be surprised'.

Also, do you really think they're going to produce more of the same after 8 years? I don't. Also a lot of people fail to grasp the reality that true artists have no obligation or interest in producing what their fans expect.

I trust them and cannot wait to hear the new direction their work has taken.

Too true. Sure, there'll be some old-school flashbacks like the five note motif in the codes (which we all just knew was BoC), but I doubt anyone's expecting 'more of the same'. Eight years is a bloody long time. Of course some groups never move on or develop their sound..thankfully BoC just don't fall into that category.
I'll see you when the sun sets east, don't forget me.

Hopefully they'll do an MBV and release something that sounds both very fresh and yet very reminiscent of their old work.

I bet they'll do a couple of interviews maybe just before but certainly after the album release, kinda to put the whole RSD thing in the perspective and to discuss some themes on the album. Also more promotion. Maybe even to announce some live dates, who knows...

I'm looking forward to hearing some really gritty textures on this album. Maybe some overdriven cassette deck distortion on a chord loop or something of that nature. I suspect the album is going to favor the warmth of the last release, and I am a-ok with that. 8)

Everyone can hypothesize about it, but until it's released no one truly knows what it's going to exactly sound like.

Still hoping for a proper single to be released.

i could predict that there may be more guitars this time but of the 'electric' ala mbv variety and shock > vocals!

if its either of those or both i will be surprised otherwise no but hope to enjoy the trip.

how long more? 3 - 4 weeks, its almost torture with heart in mouth, pounding
