Something strange just happened on the BoC Facebook page.

Everything related to our favorite Scottish duo.

As much as we all would love this to be true, let's face it, this is most probably an elaborate hoax. There is just no facts in the story that could be confirmed one way or another.
(I hope I'm wrong...)

the more i think about it, the more i feel that it is absolutely a fake. i am trying to imagine the world where it is possible to coordinate this kind of thing and then i cannot

Some speculations from WATMM:

Vinyl looks like it has no grooves at all (although the clip is quite short so we are not able to see the grooves from the shaky recording).

Quite weird that the person has not recorded the audio out of the vinyl at through his fine mixer shown in the video.

He/she is also giving us the finger (count the knuckles shown in the picture starting from the lowest). This could be an accident/habit OR done on purpose.

There is also some trolling going on in Reddit.

So..

It's been pointed out on the 2020k blog that Boards of Canada are listed on the Record Store Day website: http://recordstoreday.com/Artist/4322

But this might be an old entry, because it seems the RSD website has been selling digital copies of BoC releases presumably for a few years now, for example: http://recordstoreday.com/Item/5665000295

BoC having an artist page on the RSD website is probably related to that, rather than these supposed 2013 releases, if they are real.

It's fake but I must admit that it is a great hoax. Well done whoever did this!

Listen carefully to the youtube recording of the mystery slab, and then to the opening of "everything you do is a balloon" (the one from hi scores NOT BoC maxima).

If fake, it would sound to me like the hoaxer sampled "balloon". but it's the other way around.

... this would be explained by the new track being an old "song fragment" which was only briefly in the opening few seconds of "balloon".

Also could be a possibly a deliberate pointer left by the guys.

I don't join in here to speculate often. But this time it's a lot of fun...

i dunno, would seem like a good time to drop this, mhtrtc anniversary, waco texas anniversary albeit april 19th, record store day, this notion of hex numbers, i did check that out hours ago and got a brown colour though turquoise does seem to be its complimentary but 'hex....agon' 6 parts, 6 sides to it, 6 listening locations worldwide for geogaddi.

it would be typical of boc to do something like this
the only thing is, they would need to be sure all 6 get to persons that have a clue.
one could go missing, one could end up on ebay right away...

risky campaign, a tense time

tomorrow is the 22nd

If that was the idea, quite an early reference to go with.

Better yet, someone should call the record store. It's an "Other Music," but I don't know where.

I've contacted them already, they open in another three hours, I'll post any response here.

This a relevant bit: it looks like the twitter account of the guy who tweeted the picture has been a BoC fan for years: https://twitter.com/ImNoPandaBear/statu ... 2229738497
