But yeah, awesome interview. It's especially interesting how he talks about their equipment. I love that bit about them spending a lot of time and traveling long distances just for one effect unit that contributed 1 second of audio to Cold Earth.

I definitely felt as though on prior releases many of these tracks would have gone another couple of minutes. Sort of a "failure to thrive" thing going on this record. The soundtrack explanation is very instructive as to their thinking.

To see them in written word after this long is almost like the missing piece of the puzzle for me. And now they have a beefed-up studio and are both in Scotland again. Now we can pore over TH for even more clues within clues. YEARS of fun.

Caution here. They didn't say they are nihilists. They said they have become MORE nihilistic, there is I find a substantial difference.

wow, they gave a lot more away about the album than i thought they would.

i've been thinking ever since i heard the album that it sounds like its in the wrong order, that maybe were supposed to choose our own play order, so it was interesting to read about the palindromic aspect they've put in to it.

Sandison: "There are quite a few influences on this record. Carpenter is kind of an easy reference point for most people though I'd say the main ones would be Fabio Frizzi, John Harrison and Mark Isham. We're very much into grim 70s and 80s movie soundtracks so there are maybe nods to composers such as Stefano Mainetti, Riz Ortolani, Paul Giovanni, Wendy Carlos, even Michael Nyman."

It's interesting that they reference Riz Ortolani -- I've always considered the soundtrack of Cannibal Holocaust very boc esque. In fact, one of my very first topics on this forum was about the link between BoC and Cannibal Holocaust.
