interesting:
we have received a lot of offers, especially from festivals. However, if we decided to di a live show, we want to do something special. in fact I confess that lately we have begun to think of it as a feasible hypothesis is, and we started to work on it.

"MARCUS: Put it this way, both we'll never be the Genesis or U2 or something. Never. That said, I can also understand the spirit in which certain things are written or thought, but in general I believe that hating something just because this same thing is loved by others is a fairly insane to deal with life ..."

I completely agree.

Fredd-s mentioned it above, but I think it's worth highlighting again:

MIKE: True, we actually do receive a lot of offers. Especially from festivals. But well, let's say that if we would ever decide to do a live performance, we want it to be something really special. If we'd ever decide to do it. In fact I must confess that lately we have started to think of it as a possible hypothesis... yes, we started working on it.

Hey Fredd - that discussion we had a while back on FB. Ring any bells...?

MIKE: A couple of old synths, that we really loved so much, died during the recording. At that point we opted for what any insightful and smart person would have done: we replaced them with older, even more shabby synths. Smart move, isn't it? Speaking in general, we actually did a deep research on the audio equipments that were commonly used for movie soundtracks during the 80s... and le'ts say we really worked hard on this. We've lost our heads on this matter, perhaps we've exaggerated a bit, maybe we took this a bit too maniacally. But aside from this, for the sequencers we decided to rely only on hardware, withouth softwares: you can't imagine what a relief it was to get rid of all those grids on screen teling you what to do and when to do it.

MIKE: Quite much. Perhaps enough to make another album or even two, even if we're talking of raw stuff that still needs much work on. This is absolutely normal for us, you know, the same happened with the previous albums. Maybe part of this unused material will somehow see the light someday. We can't exclude that.

They really love to tease us, don't they… :)

Yep, but of course its become a kind of feedback loop with us fans; each release is subsequently picked over in more and more detail by us making it more and more difficult for BOC to put out anything they know to be under-par

some fairly clueless questions in this one.

"is there something from Campfire Headphase that does not satisfy you anymore today?"

"is "Tomorrow's Harvest" a good album?"

THESE are the questions deemed worthy of asking when given the rare opportunity to talk to the band directly?

i like how marcus puts the interview in his place though in regards to the first question:

"Making a new album which sounds different from the previous one doesn't mean disowning the predecessor, right?"

exactly!

and isn't there some subtle "campfire" bashing in the magic RPM interview as well? what is wrong with these journalists?

Yes- a lot of those questions were a let down alright.

And I agree with the Campfire nonsense- it's a great fucking album, true to it's theme, just like all the other ones (well, not saying every album has an exact "theme", but idea/feel/mood, etc).

A missed opportunity imo.

Boards themselves seem to be very reluctant to being interviewed though, at least around this TH era, so let's not put all the blame on journalists. It's all maybe-maybe and tease after tease, "we don't wanna tell". Wonder how many questions they've directly refused to answer to?

Yeah- I do think the interview formula is there- don't give it away, tease this and that, declining to answer, etc. Would make it hard on a journalist. I do still think this could have had better questions- a little more creativity, insight into new territories (even safe ones). But yeah, it's not easy I'm sure.

I agree - some pretty childish, zine-like questions in this one. The translation might take a slice of the charm away, though.

There was a post somewhere here earlier where somebody was compiling fan questions for an interview. Wonder what happened to it.

I was wondering the exact same thing. Too tired to look for it, otherwise I'd bump it.

So does that mean they didn't use software, even to track it out?

MARCUS: "Campfire contains... among the best things we've ever done"

nice to hear that someone agrees.

I could honestly envision BoC chopping all their samples and crafting everything together on an MPC or something... they are definitely badass enough to have done that.
