Incredible.
The long tail of Societas X tape is really over shadowed by the pre launch for TH

For the last few weeks I have somehow struck a golden vein inspiration wise so I am basically just searching for samples for my own work and listening to whatever music I can find. During the last week I must have went through at least 50 albums, mostly library music, industrial stuff, late 70s into 80s, also ambient and new age. I ran into this guy on one of dozens of blogs I I dug through. I was listening to his and Ian Boddy's stuff and because the sound was so similar I had a hunch that one of these guys might have made that track. Also I was partially right when I made this comment last year August. Give me my consolation prize.

NICE!

Standing ovation!

In a bit of an odd twist, Carl Matthews has an album called Col!

Not all of it, on most of these places you can choose a tag so that it shows you only a certain genre or style, year etc. I am almost done with ambient stuff here, some of it I already heard before, I look for library stuff first then whatever next seems interesting. Before this one I went into some weird Spainish blog universe, I lost maybe two or three days listening to industrial and noise. I think the track after 30,000 ft is something along those lines.

Would you be willing to post a list of some of these blogs?

Is there an updated track list with the more recent discoveries on it? I'd like to join in on the hunt for the remaining tracks

https://archaicinventions.blogspot.com/
https://stahlfabrik.blogspot.com/
https://electronicorgy.blogspot.com/

This is a good start. When you are done with one there is usually a list of related blogs somewhere on the site and just check those, rinse and repeat. Discogs is also your friend, when I like an artist then I check there what else did they do, contribute to, what else is on that label etc.

btw I hope this is not against the rules bc these blogs post download links to stuff, nothing is actually hosted there, but mods feel free to remove these if it is somewhat against the rules.

Saved em! Go ahead and delete! :P

Just taking a quick scroll through some of these and I noticed that a couple youtube channels are posting things around the same time they are being added to these blogs.

Here are a couple of those youtube channels I dig through for Societas tracks...
Diggin' Demos https://www.youtube.com/c/DigginDemos/videos
Dronemf S https://www.youtube.com/user/Dronemf11/videos
Funked Up East https://www.youtube.com/user/mishapanfilov/videos
Italian Tapes Archive https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTr5rA ... tNw/videos
MrGuerssen https://www.youtube.com/user/MrGuerssen/videos
Prog Line https://www.youtube.com/c/ProgLine/videos
Rainwater Enema https://www.youtube.com/c/ZyklonCoven/videos
Ricardo Marana https://www.youtube.com/c/RicardoMara%C3%B1a/videos
Sonne Immage https://www.youtube.com/user/sonneimmage/videos
The Armagideon Times https://www.youtube.com/user/TheArmagideonTimes/videos
The Saturn Archives https://www.youtube.com/c/SaturnArchives/videos
Ultra Harmonics https://www.youtube.com/c/UltraHarmonics/videos
Underground Files https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk50N4 ... 15Q/videos
Underrated Albums https://www.youtube.com/c/UnderratedAlbums/videos
VisioncreationnewSon https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDbRbu ... gag/videos

That last one looks like it is getting a lot of ideas from some of the blogs you showed us, Moz!

Already subscribed to a couple of those channels, mechanism, and I'm excited to check out the ones I don't recognize...it's been said before, but I do think SxT was partially a message telling us to really look for art where we've never looked before. Lately, there's been a huge crop-up of these YouTube channels bringing albums back from the dead, essentially. I'm very happy about it.

In 2018 I started to download everything from some of those blogs and youtubes (stahlfabrik, italian tapes, 433rpm, dieordiy, visioncreationnewsun...) to create a "Shazam" type database of fingerprints, so tracks could be identified. (I was doing this for another trackID finding project).

I ran the unknown tracks from the SxT tape through it in 2019. It didn't come up with many matches, but might be worth revisiting.

The software used for this is called dejavu: https://github.com/worldveil/dejavu
