BOC hardly mentioned in large article about Warp's history

This article from Resident Advisor popped up in my feed today and I was confused by the lack of BOC in it: https://www.residentadvisor.net/feature ... k2C24MbKEo

There's even a 13 essential Warp albums list and Music (or any BoC album for that matter) isn't mentioned at all.

I wonder if this is because of their lack of presence with Warp. Because other artists are much more willing to engage with the label and the fans, BoC generally fade into the background. They also didn't provide a quip like many of the other artists did, so that's probably another reason.

Still, if they are trying to stay out of the limelight, they've succeeded and I'm happy for em. Just sad to see this as a big fan.

All it illustrates is the taste of the journo. He didn't mention Plaid either who are just as important in the warp history but are often disregarded by fans who chase the most extreme of music of the times. Basicaslly music to make you look cool. BoC and Plaid are geek cool not popular dude cool.

Resident advisor is a very decent journal. I discovered a lot of back up electronica back in the days from them. They also pur Geogaddi on 11th place of the best albums from 00's. And Tomorrow's Harvest on 12th place of the best albums from 2013th. It's a pitty they stopped making those polls anymore.

Imagine if Xaugh's antics were just a way of hiding the news of a new release and only those willing to give him the benefit of the doubt were rewarded.

Sometimes you just log on and see something that reminds you all at once why you come out this way

I agree it's more to do with the author than anything. Resident Advisor are hugely into BoC otherwise in general. And to be fair, the list that you mentioned OP is actually a brief 'history of Warp' selection (I mean, it doesn't even include any Aphex pre-Syro...), and can see they also included 5 BoC tracks on their Spotify playlist, so not exactly forgotten.

havet read article but lots of folks when talking of history of warp tend to focus on 89/91 era bleep scene LFO warp shop in sheffield etc
historically it is probably more important than later individual artists landmarks as it started the whole shebang
